So as people on the Facebook community have said, and I'm sure everyone's felt, bsc_snark on both DW and LJ have been very quiet as of late.
I'll own up to some responsibility. I became a moderator eleven years ago, almost twelve. I was still in college, and honestly, I think I was... maybe a little more engaged in the snarkier aspects of the ( Read more... )
I think the biggest problem is not that people ain't interested in snarking the BSC, but LJ and DW just ain't he communities to do it in.
LJ basically died a painful dearth after the great fandom war and everybody just... left... subsequent Russian buyout hasn't helped, but realistically LJ doesn't get the new blood needed to maintain itself or even its legit bigger communities (OhNoTheyDidnt is a shell of what it was 10 years ago)... so a niche group like us has no chance of surviving. DW, while nice, is even smaller and less well known then LJ. Is much as i like it, i think it really has a snowballs chance...
What are the options?
Emmigration to a different platform I think is the only one.
What one?
Facebook or Reddit maybr be the only one big enough to be a catch all, with an emphasis on discussion and a critical userbase mass Tumblr doesn't offer the format needed to work in a snark group (snark needs feedback and discussion and debate... tumblr really just has likes)
Is there a FB group? Maybe if not one creates one and blitz/advertise itself. It might be the only options.
