Jessi Ramsey! Pet-sitter! Part 1!

I'm still soaring on a natural high of Tumblr and a fucked up sleeping schedule, so I decided to work on another snark. After reading what a total twat Jessi was in my last snark, I wanted something where she's a normal person and K Ron is the unapologetic asshole. And good God, is she! I really don't know why anyone puts up with her for over a ( Read more... )

Ann is terrible at having her characters learn lessons. How many books are about Kristy bossing everyone around? Or Stacey treating her friends like trash because she has a crush? Or Mary an growing a spine? Or Dawn just being an awful person in general? Not once have they looked back and said 'Better not overdo it this time like I did when such and such'.

Yeah, the BSC bringing kids to the Mancusis is just irresponsible. Not only because something could go wrong, but it's a pretty damned big invasion of privacy. They hired Jessi to watch their pets, not turn their house into a Goddamned zoo.

I was raised with pets and have always talked to them. Even my gramma who hates animals talks to the family dog. She's even joined my talking to Cabby. Yeah, she insults him but she still talks to him.

I can imagine like Mary Anne or someone talking about their club meeting and their parent going 'Excuse me, wtf?' Because even if they were saying it casually like 'Oh, Kristy acted so bossy today at the meeting blah blah blah' you think it'd raise some red flags. Because I know if my kid was talking about their friend yelling at them, I would be on the phone to their parents in a second telling them to control their child. But of course, Parents in the 'brook are useless and Kristy's bullying goes unchecked.

I hated how they voted too. I mean, the least they could have done was make Claudia president as she does way more for the club than Kristy ever has. It's funny, because even as a kid I was like, 'This is such bullshit' yet I kept reading the books. Like, I knew they were garbage books with shitty writing and terrible characters but they were entertaining. Like, baby's first guilty pleasure. I feel the same way now about The Walking Dead

Claudia would have been a good president. I wish Claudia realized at some point how much power she actually had. The club headquarters was her bedroom. She also provided snacks and handled any call that came in when they weren't meeting. She could have at any point thrown Kristy out. Refused to let her bedroom be used.

I wish the voting had gone differently, even for just a few books. It would have been fun to see the girls doing different jobs, each taking a turn at being president, secretary and treasurer. It would have been fun to see Claudia president for book, Mary Anne for another one, Mal president, Jessi and Stacey. Maybe not Dawn because she'd be forcing them all to eat health food.
