Greetings, my lovelies! How is everyone doing? I can't believe I got this up in a good time but well...my Sims crashed. So, I took that as a sign that I shouldn't be playing games and should get snarking. And good lord, is this book depressing. I swear to God that Ann's only talent is taking perfectly innocuous characters and turning them into

K Ron says to be careful not to come off as pushy.--Of course they'd have KRISTY say that line.
'I should change my title from the Pikes’ daughter to the Pikes’ nanny'. --Oh Mallory. Here you are joking about it when really that's what happened.
Dawn doesn't come screeching out a heating vent about how she's single handedly killing the Earth.--LMFAO!
Mrs P shows that she's an asshole by saying she knows that Jenny has been having a problem with Andrea getting a lot of attention but doesn't know what to do about it.--Yeah, it's really hard to think up an answer to that one. I admit I don't know the answer to it either. Wait, it just came to me--PAY ATTENTION TO JENNY TOO. Wow, I hope Kristy doesn't feel threatened by me having a great idea.
You knew?! That's even worse than being oblivious! You knew your kid was upset and couldn't take fifteen fucking minutes to talk to her?!--"I just thought I'd let the members of the BSC handle it since you girls are such experts with kids!"
Anyways, they talk about Jenny but can't come up with a solution--You could try not treating your oldest kid like she's a toy that you're tired of playing with. "Fuck it, tired of playing with this. Just let it collect dust on a shelf or something."
She's too busy. Too busy to spend time with her first born because she's fawning over an overgrown garden slug--It's pretty easy to see why a babysitting cult runs Stoneybrook with thought process like that.
Who's lazier and more neglectful? Mrs P or the Pikes?--Question of the ages! I'm kinda thinking the younger Pikes probably don't even see the Pike adults as their parents anymore. I feel like it's veered into "Flowers in the Attic" territory. Cathy and Chris are parents to Cory and Carrie. Who does Jenny have? Mary Anne. And it's not even like Mary Anne lives in the house with Jenny.
Instead I offer this Sims video that's been on my mind lately for some reason.--lmao, that's so weird, fucked up and totally random! :D
He says he will so it's nice that one of her parents can make time for her.--At least this is better than the picture I painted above. At least she's getting time with one parent.
She talked to her parents about the fact that they were overwhelming her with sitting jobs for the apes --Overwhelming. I think that's the word that jumps out at me. I know how I feel when I feel like shit or I'm feeling a bit better. It really isn't helping by overloading me with more shit so I feel overwhelmed. It's beyond me how the Pikes survived after Mallory moved away.
and thinks things would be perfect if Dawn came home--And I'm currently binge snarking Mary Anne's Makeover, why in the fuck would you want that to happen, Mary Anne? That sentence makes as much sense to me as saying "Things would be perfect if I was minding my own business and somebody set me on fire!" "Things would be perfect if I was out walking, got hit by a car and died!" Yeah, I'm going into morbid department with that. Let me see if I can ease it up a bit. "Things would be perfect if the only things I could hear for the rest of my life is somebody bitching about everything under the sun, whether it impacts her life or not."
Amazing snark! :)

Right? Everyone's acting like the problem with Jenny is unsolvable when really all they have to do is pay attention to her. How hard is it to play with her or read her a story and tell her you like her?! Why is it her own Goddamn mother can't do this?! You're absolutely right that they're treating her like a toy they got tired of. Like, 'Oh! We got something new! Better play with that and throw the old one in the trash!' It's seriously fucked up how abusive Ann writes people.
The Pikes are terrible parents. It really comes off as they know Mal is well enough to sit but don't want her sitting for fun so, they just make her sit her sibling cuz they're lazy. Like I said, either they think she's well enough to sit or they don't. Sitting for her siblings is no different than sitting for like Jamie or someone except it doesn't benefit them so they forbid it. And I sincerely hope they're paying her because if not, that's absolute bullshit.
That sentence makes as much sense to me as saying "Things would be perfect if I was minding my own business and somebody set me on fire!"
ikr? Like what exactly does Mary Anne miss about Dawn? She's not a good friend or sister and all she does is bitch and complain. Really, after Mary Anne's Makeover, Mary Anne should have want nothing to do with her. You can't treat someone like shit and expect no repercussions. But Ann never does that. She has her characters acting awful to each other and never face any consequences. Mary Anne should have been mad at her over the course of a few books. She should have confronted Dawn and the BSC for how they treated her. Not laughed it over like some cute mistake. They were purposely trying to hurt her. And no one apologized! If I ever met Ann, I'd be hard pressed not to sock her molars out.

This yes! You can't have best friends being upset over a hair cut and purposely trying to hurt her. Then have them just make up without apologizing to Mary Anne. It doesn't work that way. You treat a friend that badly and you just lost a friend.
