Anyway, Claudia is busy glaring at a protractor because she has no idea how to use it. She has no idea how to use it, why she’d need to use it, what an angle is, and why she’d need to measure it.

Angles are vitally important in painting if you want to do it well.

Sometimes I wonder if she’s capable of grasping the material, but she has to work a bit harder to do so and doesn’t understand it.

My dyslexic mother graduated top of her nursing class. Having to work harder than someone else isn't an excuse. Only one person has to work the least. Everyone else has someone they have to work harder than because that's how it works.

Did any of you guys have homeroom? I didn’t.

I didn't, and I don't know what the point is. Attendance was taken in each class since a kid being in one class doesn't mean they won't ditch the next, and announcements were ready by the teacher at the beginning of 2nd period, which took all of three minutes.

It’d be one thing if she was honestly trying and the class was just moving along too quickly for her. That’s happened to me. In math class we’d do one concept that I couldn’t grasp before we were moving on to something else.

This is a problem I have with schools. It's NORMAL for even the super smart kids to sometimes need a little extra time on something, yet this is treated like no big deal. If a kid needs time and can't get it, then thy call behind, and it snowballs.

On the other end, some kids move faster, but have to wait, and get bored.

I feel like Kristy would come back from vacation expecting the BSC to be falling apart without her and then be shocked when it turns out they can run fine without her.

That literally happened in a recent snark.

She goes to one meeting and tells Anna, “I think the people were underplaying how fucking cult-like the BSC is. I’m going to stay just so I can troll Kristy.”

That's my new head-canon.

It would be hilarious if the BSC liked Abby better as president because she wasn’t a tyrant. But I feel like if they mentioned it, Kristy would throw a tantrum. Actually, she’d probably try to disband the BSC.

That literally happened in a recent snark. Kristy's Worst Idea.

Claudia says she was tested for a learning disorder and it turns out she doesn’t have one.

I wonder if someone brought up to Ann that they were concerned about this, and this is Ann lampshading it.

I get the feeling she got the lowest possible grade that was still technically considered a pass

Unless on the modified system where 15% is each grade, then she'd need a measly 60% to pass.

One, is that really healthier than sugar?

It can be, plus the body metabolizes fruit juice differently.

Her parents aren’t mad and reassure her that she’ll catch up

I would have been in big trouble. I was expected to try, and my parents knew I was capable of at least a B on a bad day, and an A easily if I tried. Getting a D wasn't acceptable because they knew what I could do. They knew that meant I wasn't trying. Claudia? She's not even trying. So she should be in some trouble here, not having her F waved off.

There was one time I had a lot of trouble, and it goes back to how some students move faster than others. We had a regular assignment where we were given a bunch of terms, and in a notebook, we had to define them, one per page, like archipelago or inlet, and we had to find a picture in a National Geographic (my school had tons of those) and cut it out and paste it in the notebook. The assignment was so easy that it was hard. I couldn't focus, no matter how much I tried. It would be like one of us writing 1-100 repeatedly. It would be so easy that we would struggle. I still got in trouble for getting F's.

Yep, that was the whole reason it happened. Kristy expected to find her friends begging her to never leave again, the entire club to have fallen apart. But it didn't. And Kristy couldn't handle it. Everything in that book was Kristy's fault, and it still bugs me that she got away with it.
