Claudia then adds that they have to be flexible because they are all busy. Yay for Claudia, Stacey, and Abby in this chapter, in all honesty. They’re all finally making sense and trying to take down K.Ron’s stupid rules.

Who ARE they in this chapter? Aliens replaced the real ones.

If the Rodowsky parents knew about this I bet they would stop using the BSC in an instant.

I am in no way an over-coddling parent, despite my daughter being the center of my world, but if I found out her babysitters had a nickname like that for her, they'd be fired. It's not meant to be a cutesy thing. They really mean his nickname in earnest.

Jackie climbs the tree again, this time even higher, with only a mere branch keeping him there.

Remember how hard they were on Mal when Nicky broke his finger? And they said she should have been watching closer?

Normally I don't pass up an opportunity to insult KRon, but I have to play Devils advocate here. I'm not going to give her a free pass, and that's solely because I'm STILL mad at how she is such ( ... )

I'm not going to give her a free pass, and that's solely because I'm STILL mad at how she is such a hypocrite! It's TRUE that even the best caretaker can have an accident happen, but she didn't make allowances for Mal when her brother's finger was hit during a game of volleyball. Climbing a tree takes longer than that.

That's exactly why I'm not either. She tore into Mallory for something that was a complete accident (and don't forget the Pikes were back at the time so she wasn't even in charge) and I have no doubt she'd have done the same thing in this situation had it been anyone but her sitting. We've seen Kristy go off on Stacey about stealing that ring and counterfit money while "claiming" she's worried about what the clients would think. Well, Kristy, what do you think your clients would think about not paying attention to Jackie to the point he was able to climb a tree and then moved a child after he fell and hit his head and didn't call 911 or doctor or anyone?

Don't forget that Kristy neglected to watch Karen for long enough that Karen managed to manually remove the paint from an entire care. Of course, Watson just laughed and said he'd been thinking about getting the car re-painted anyway....

That's right she did. Not that it matter Karen, and Kristy both got away with messing up. Kristy loves to brag that she's the best sitter in the world and no one is better then her in her complete know it all way. Yet in this case she did everything wrong.

Yet, Mary Anne when Jenny was sick didn't know what to do and she tried to call her dad, Jenny's doctor, Jenny's parents and Dawn. Then they decided to call 911. When Claudia broke her leg sitting for the Demon Child Betsy, she immediately instructs Betsy to call 911 and for Dawn and Mallory who were babysitting near by. When Buddy goes missing Dawn calls all over the neighborhood and after talking with Mrs. Pike (an adult) calls 911. Kristy, President of the Club, the one who brags the most about being the best babysitting and knowing everything the world....doesn't call 911, a doctor, Jackie's parents or anyone, and moves him.

And it sounds like she moved him pretty quickly. I am the least 911-callingest person in the world, but when a child blacks out for ANY period of time, they need to be checked for a concussion. Most black-outs only last a few seconds! If I got home and found out my child was ignored long enough to climb a tree and fall out of it, and no one called me or called 911, I'd never use that babysitter again.

It's easy to snark on Mary Anne overreacting when Jenny got that fever, but we, as adults, know how to handle a fever, and when to go in. Mary Anne didn't know, and when she couldn't reach an adult, erred on the side of caution and did the right thing.

Yeah, I had that theory as well. My theory came from reading the mystery series and wondering why all the crimes got solved by kids and then having the idiotic idea that the whole crime was a set-up, like how some people will pretend to be villains so a superhero kid can save the day. I don't know if that part makes sense. But I can totally see the adults wanting to support the kids and making up any excuse to have them babysit ( ... )

If you work regular business hours, you aren't clocking out until at least 5. Those parents have to rush home to call during that thrice-weekly half hour. 6:30-7 would be better.

Then fixing dinner, making sure their kids are getting homework and school projects done, getting baths, etc.

Right, but it's a lot easier to make a quick call if you're home to do it. 5:30 isn't late enough for people with business-hours jobs to get home without rushing them.

In the girls' defense, holding meetings when it's late enough for kids to have had dinner, homework done, baths on bath-nights (most kids don't ned nightly baths, and taking them too frequently can dry skin and lead to rashes and years infections, like for my daughter, who can only take a bath every 3-4 days, or else she gets yeast infections), and whatever else, will be too late for them. I wouldn't want my kid at a cub meeting at 8:30-9 at night, and after having all else done, I wouldn't want to be a parent who now has to call when I want to be relaxing.

Its funny when someone (was it Stacey?) points out when switching meetings from Friday to Thursday, don't people go out on Fridays? Yeah, that's exactly when most parents would be going out for the evening on date nights, parties, etc. So you'd think they'd be in great demand for Friday night jobs. I doubt they'd want to wait around to call for a sitter, or wait until after six for their sitter to show up (cause you know they can't miss meetings).
