so, i decided to try my hand at snarking a super special and as a canadian, i HAD to pick this one. i just couldn't resist -- it's the only BSC book with canadian characters! i hope you guys enjoy it. :)
I'm afraid I can't see the pics. Not sure if it's just my computer acting buggy or what.--oh shit, it was me again, sometimes i forget to make the damned things public first. thanks for pointing it out! i'd forget my head if it wasn't screwed on. lol.
I can't blame her. I'd assume the same thing after all the vacations these girls go on--me too!
Anybody ever think Ann will write a book where the characters are adults? You think they might be a touch realistic where life kicks some of these girls in the asses or will it still be as delusional as ever?--i don't think so, sadly. ann has said in interviews that she likes writing about "middle grade" characters best, which is why when she wrote "the summer before" she aged them down instead of up. i don't think she'll EVER allow these girls to age properly, which is sad, i'd like to see what happened to them! i think if she did write a book about them as adults they'd be just as delusional as ever. the only way some realism would really kick in would be if Lerangis ghostwrote it. he wasn't too bad at that when he was writing the california diaries books. ann would insist on keeping the bullshit delusions and "perfection" of the girls intact.
Lovely. I imagine ears were hurting after that little scream fest on both sides--seriously. i hate loud noises and loud noises over the phone are so damned shrill it just makes it worse. shrill and right in your ear. no thanks!
Kristy probably threatened to break both legs if she left the cult--i bet you're right!
I think I need to go over the snarks for FF 1 again. Didn't the club members that drop out just get a passing mention instead of having some big scene where you actually saw how they dropped out. I know it was back to core 4 again. I can maybe see Shannon and Logan getting a passing mention of them dropping out because of other activities tying them up. Abby wasn't in the series long enough for some huge reveal about dropping out. You'd just think Jessi would've gotten that storyline since she was a member for so long.--i read the first FF book a few months back and kristy essentially shit her pants over jessi and abby leaving--she actually plotted revenge on abby. but it was pretty much over and done with pretty damned fast. i think kristy was momentarily pissed off with mary anne over logan leaving, but i'm not 100% sure on that. but one thing i will say for kristy in that book, she gave mary anne some pretty decent advice on dealing with logan's bullshit. she was actually a pretty good friend to her in that book. i was kind of stunned, to be honest! the members quitting all happened in "everything changes" though and it was over and done in one book as far as i know. they just bumped them off left and right!
No. Again, I look at the shit Mallory had to go through and that wasn't an honor. Neither are the putdowns aimed in her direction. If that's an honor, I'd rather have the shit beaten out of me--seriously. they put mallory through such hell and then continued to put her through hell the whole time she was in the club. jessi had it much easier in comparison.
Oh my god. Time to stop the vacations!--for real!!
Questions like this one boggle the mind. It makes me think of this: wwwDOTyoutubeDOTcom/watch?v=RnotTQWeX-M around the 44 second mark. What are they like? Do Austrians dress like these people in the audience? What would they be dressed like, space aliens?--LOL! oh my fucking god! that's exactly it. *shakes head*
Impressive, we got away from group think!--it's about damned time!
It's up in the air, especially since Abby could possibly think that Elvis fought in the Civil War.--true dat. i'm trying to stop being shocked when we're shown just how stupid SMS students really are, but i still can't believe some of the shit that comes out of their mouths. i don't know if it'll EVER stop shocking and disturbing me, to be honest.
I really don't blame you. I've bitched on other sites about how you might say or look something up and it doesn't mean you're going to do anything. I used "Little House on the Prairie" as my example. The sets got blown up and that was the storyline. So am I going on a suspected terrorist list if I looked up "Walnut Grove gets blown up" or something like that? Or if I'm even watching it? Youtube had the movie up there but I guess it got taken down. Here's an ad and at the very end you can see the boarding house blow up. wwwDOTyoutubeDOTcom/watch?v=bTdutAKBZTs It just seems like you've got to walk on eggshells because what you think is okay might be suspicious to others.--exactly. it's so fucked up. and i'd like to add that freedom of speech no longer truly exists if you can get a knock on your door or whatever, just for saying/writing a single damned word. it's straight up bullshit. the term "freedom of speech" becomes a bit of an oxymoron if you can lose your freedom for speaking.
So needless to say, he's the Stacey of this trip. Look at all the times you've been in your own little world when you were supposed to be working, Stacey!--lol, exactly!
I still don't know why they did that to him. Write up a new character to be a dick.--seriously! i hate what they did to him. :(
I would've liked to have read an Alan book tbh. Just as long as it was old Alan instead of the new Alan--same here!
Agreed. How could they watch anything besides "I Love Lucy"? Seriously, I know they have a Britcom night on PBS for the old british shows. I watch Are You Being Served? And they also play Keeping Up With Appearances and As Time Goes By. Mr. Bean managed to get play outside of that block...I remember it playing on a channel besides PBS. And my parents talk about how they used to watch "The Young Ones" on MTV when I was a kid. But I just don't see how many channels they could watch a britcom, ya know?--same here, especially since watching tv is pretty much banned in the 'brook! i doubt she'd use the little tv time she could sneak in to watch 'fawlty towers'! this IS stacey we're talking about, after all.
Damn, she doesn't know what fiction is either?!--lol, apparently they don't teach you that at SMS.
LOVE the snark! :)--yay! thank you! i'm glad you did! i'm going to try and get more up ASAP. i've had the second part written for awhile now but i've been sick the last few weeks and haven't been able to put it up. :P going to try and remedy that though!
