This is amazing. I was reading it thinking whoever wrote it had to be a member here.

Two things strike me here: firstly, it's really cool to see how the fashions change from the 80s (The Truth About Stacey, The Ghost at Dawn's House) to the mid-90s (Stacey's Emergency - I had an identical blue oversized t-shirt) to the late 90s/early 00s (Abby's Un-Valentine).

Secondly, I can't help but notice that on the cover of Jessi's Horrible Prank, there is another black kid AND an Asian kid. Shut up, Jessi.

I stared at that one for like 10 minutes trying to figure out who the other black kid was. Is it Curtis maybe? But wait, Curtis was in grade 7...

And in the holidays one, suddenly tons of black kids are in town. I wonder if SMS isn't a charter middle school because, when it's convenient, there are a lot of kids of other races their age in town, yet none at SMS. Charter schools are public, but usually lacking diversity. I don't want to minimize Jessi's feelings, but there really are a lot of other black kids when it's convenient to the plot, and unless they disappear back into the wood works, then they've always been in that town somewhere.

I have to say, I'm to the criticism of Dawn on the cover of book 5. That's straight up just the 80s. I remember dressing like that in middle school and being considered trendy. I mean, it looks stupid today, but that was the height of fashion back in the day.

I got the impression that the author of this list had no idea about 80s fashion. Obviously that stuff is hideous by today's standards, but some effort was at least made to judge the '90s fashion by the '90s.

Any "Best Outfits" list that isn't topped by Abby's amazing velvet dress and pearls on #90 is LIES.

Although I do approve of the #1 on here. I just think Abby's dress should've been in the top ten, easy.

YES. that is my all-time favorite BSC cover outfit. I would totally wear that still.

One of the few times I liked Abby. That dress was awesome.

LOL. I completely disagree with the "Who plays softball in jeans?" thing for Kristy's outfit on the cover of Mind Your Own Business, Kristy! though. When I played (late 90s), a lot of us wore jeans because they were thick enough to keep us from skinning our knees at least some of the time.

And also a lot of kids' families didn't buy spendy baseball pants for a casual little team.

Was she actually playing though? If she's just coaching small children, she wouldn't likely be teaching them to slide into bases. She'd just be doing the basics. I was confused by her criticism of a COACH wearing jeans while coaching her team.
