Well, I thought the outdoors part would be treated badly by Lerangis and Ann, and I was right! First, he should be going by whatever list the camp gave him, not the one his mother made (since the camp people would actually know what he needs). Also, why are they shopping at a department store for outdoors gear? That's like the real world equivalent of me shopping at Macy's for one of my geology field trips. That makes no sense. Also, if it's a wilderness survival thing, I'd be less worried about buying the clothes (and the type of clothes he'd need are not at Belairs, they'd be at a sporting goods store if he's going for speciality-or jeans and a t-shirt (what I wore)) and more worried about buying the actual gear. Because I'm pretty sure that unless the camp provides everything, he's probably going to need one of the backpacking backpacks, something like a camelback or at least a couple of liter water bottles (or some sort of water filtration? I'm not sure how much of this is a water at base camp versus no water at base camp have to find it yourself), probably a small shovel, toilet paper, first aid kit, army knife, possibly a compass and a topographic map of the area (although they probably provide the map) and probably a few other things (I'm mostly basing this on the stuff I or classmates of mine carried minus the geology related stuff) plus food (although that's probably provided). Possibly also some sort of tent or tarp, depending on if they're backpacking or returning to a base camp for the night, and probably some sort of bug repellant and sunscreen. Also, he'd probably want a hat with a drawstring on it, and maybe some flares (although I never carried flares so I suppose it depends on the situation). Basically, my point is buying the gear is more important for a wilderness survival class than buying nice clothes at a department store, and I would never trust a couple of thirteen year olds to pick out the gear without an adult being present. Furthermore, I wouldn't buy clothes for a wilderness survival class at a department store, the clothes are going to get dirty, torn, and stained and you'd want either cheap jeans and a cheap shirt or clothes that are actually made for the outdoors (if you're going to spend a lot of money on clothes for the outdoors, buy the clothes made for that from a sporting goods place).
On another note, that EMT certainly sounds like one I'd be wanting at the scene of a real accident /sarcasm.

hahaha, the list is like "button down shirt, tank top, bug spray, white socks, sunglasses. . ." Maybe he IS going to get eaten by a bear.
