I understand the Barbie thing, if only because I have a Pink Label Barbie and are aware of how expensive Barbies can be.
This is...so not a project to send the favorite toy on. If I were doing this project, I'd send a toy I don't really play with anymore. There is so much of a possibility it could get lost or stolen. Also, I think it's cute that Natalie's like "OMG BUZZY WROTE BACK!" That's just the way you are with toys. If I were sending Abby Starchild on this project (which I would never ever do because if I lost her, I would like, die), I would say "Abby wrote back!" instead of "the lady who took Abby wrote back!"
Careful, books centering around favorite toys might get me to talk about Abby Starchild a whooooole lot xD (Just wait until I snark Karen's Doll!)
Yeah, some Barbies are brain-breakingly expensive, but those aren't usually given to kids to play with, I don't think. Of course, this IS Stoneybrook...Hyacynthia probably cost a pretty penny herself and look what happened to her. I just assumed Sara would be sending off one of the normal, relatively cheap Barbies.
In one of my doll groups, we actually have "traveling dolls" who visit other collector's houses for one of the boards. You can imagine what happened when a doll went missing there...
