Chapters 1-3 This would've been up earlier, but I had a very busy Saturday and I wasn't feeling well yesterday. But enough about my problems!
Chapter 4 is Stacey's first modeling session. Was everything perfect? 'Course not. But really, that's to be expected when a group of teenage girls are rushing to get ready. So anyway, the rehearsal begins and things are fine until it's Stacey's turn to walk down the runway, because she trips on a cable (Luckily, she was offstage.). Additionally, the music cues aren't perfect, the lighting is uneven and some of the girls get confused and forget which way to turn. At least there weren't any disasters.
After the rehearsal finishes, Mrs. Maslin gives notes to every girl (except Harmony, who was perfect--and yeah, some of the other girls were jealous) on how to improve before the show. The notes helped, as the show went well.
Later, the girls are relaxing in the dressing room when they hear a shriek. That cliffhanger ends the chapter.
Chapter 5 begins with Mrs. Skye yelling “Poison! My baby’s been poisoned!” And Harmony is indeed hurt--she has stomach pains. The culprit? A cup of tea. Mrs. Maslin is understandably concerned about Harmony, but Harmony says she'll be fine and then leaves with her mother.
Later, Stacey, Claudia, Mary Anne and Mallory are at Pizza Express discussing the poisoning. Claudia thinks Roger Bellair is responsible. Why? As Claud put it, "Think about it. If he’s still in love with Sydney, he’d want her to have all the best assignments. So he’d have to get Harmony out of the way.” Stacey isn't so sure, because she thinks one of the models was responsible (Spoiler alert: She is correct.). The chapter ends with Stacey narrating "Suddenly, the week ahead seemed a whole lot more exciting-and quite a bit scarier."
Chapter 6. Oh, great, the smoking subplot. Personally, I found it to be annoyingly heavy-handed, so I'm not going to go into detail about it. So to summarize this chapter, Abby and Jessi are sitting for the Barrett/DeWitt combo pack. The kids are bored. Jessi suggests they do something outdoors ("It’s a beautiful day."). The kids aren't excited (Buddy even says "I suggest we forget about the whole thing and watch wrestling on TV instead."--sounds good to me!) at first, but after Abby suggests a Family Field Day, they get excited. So they play two events, then Abby realizes that Lindsey and Buddy are gone. She goes off to find them--they're in the shed, and they have (OMG GASP!) cigarettes! DUN DUN DUN!*
* (I do agree that kids shouldn't be handling cigarettes at all. I was just being silly.)
Abby takes L&B over to where everyone else is, then she and Jessi tell the kids about the dangers of smoking. w00t. End of chapter, and end of my snarking for right now.
The next part will be up in a few days. As for the outfits? Well, those are going to take longer than I thought, so I may just devote a separate post to them.
