I just came upon this community and LOVE it. I wanted to do a snark myself as yours are all so brilliant and I couldn’t find one for Don’t Give Up, Mallory. I scanned it and it’s rather boring, but here goes anyway:
*pokes out of her lurk-y hidey hole* Hi! New here!
Just had to second this--I think that cover might be my favorite one, lol, I think it's the best actual representation of the girls ever, at any point in the series!
But even though I've had this book for years, I just noticed now that Claud's socks and trousers do match her carpet.... that bedroom gives me a headache colour wise!
Holy 1980s Batman, look at Stacey! And Kristy's wearing a jumper. I know that she and MA were described as having "immature" styles compared to Claudia and Stacey, but a jumper?! It's been so long since I read this, but wasn't she still a tomboy? Or did that come later?
She was a tomboy, but if I'm not mistaken, this book came out on their first day of 7th grade, when they were all 12 years old. And if Kristy's mom was anything like my mom, I had to wear my best clothes on the first day of school. So it doesn't seem that far fetched that she's wearing a jumper.
