I'm working on a new vid to debut at
winchestercon, and it's coming along well, I think. Now I've just got to decide on the ending, which is diffucult because I've only seen a lot of third season SPN once or twice, and not the twenty-or-so times I've seen s1 and s2. But I should have it done in plenty of time for the deadline. A few things that I remembered as I vidded the last few days:
There are still scenes in SPN that freak me the fuck out, and it's not any better when I'm vidding in the middle of the night in a quiet, dark house and I'm trying to get just the right timing of a clip of Bloody Mary. Even stuff that had been scary as hell back when I first saw the show, like Mary burning on the ceiling, stuff that I've seen so many times that the shock value has kinda worn off, still can get kinda creepy in the middle of the night. But the stuff I still haven't gotten over the scaryness of? Like the wobbly-head hallucinations those being hunted by hellhounds get? STILL FREAK ME THE FUCK OUT. If I saw somebody suddenly get all wobbly-headed, I'd fucking scream my head off. I still look away from the screen when I know that's going to happen. Oh, and the white and kinda-bloated kid coming up from the depths of the lake in Dead In The Water still freaks me out too.
Dear CW, it's bad enough that most of my clips from s3 all have the standard watermark twice as big because you feel the need to advertise "Pussycat Dolls" or "Gossip Girl" during our show. That's bad, but I can grit my teeth and move on and try to ignore the watermark. But when I'm trying to find the perfect clip of Dean circling the room with his dream-self and it's all dark and blue and green, WHY DID YOU HAVE TO RUIN THE SCENE WITH A BIG FREAKING HUGE BRIGHT ORANGE AND RED ADVERT FOR WHATEVER THE FUCK THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS ARE DOING NOW??? *sighs* One of these days I'm going to have to DL somebody's ripped DVD clips and remake all my vids without the watermarks (and fucking annoying adverts), but until then I guess I'll just stew quietly to myself in my LJ.
However, sometimes it's all worth it when you find just the right clip that you weren't expecting to use, and it times itself to the music perfectly amd takes your breath away. Priceless.
