HAWKAAAAAAAH

Gah, I can't do the Fandom March Madness thing. I LOVE the positive glee-wave of the campaigning, with everybody talking about what's great about the characters they love. But beyond that... if the bracket is between two characters I love, then it's painful to choose (I fail so hard at choosing! I love a lot of people! Why does fandom always want ( Read more... )

I am not playing really, but I can't stop looking at fandom march madness and it is making me mad. REAL MAD.

"Lady Black C*#k";

THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE AS A JOKE.

ps. speaking of Greg Rucka, Brynn have you read any No Man's Land yet because I think you would like it because it includes a lot of your favorite characters being the best.

I'm avoiding the actual thing, but people on my f-list are talking about it, so I'm getting enough through osmosis to be frustrated. There are many things I love about fandom, but the willingness to enforce these binaries/competitions is not one of them. Oh well. (SDW is very helpfully linking me to some of the awesome campaigning stuff, though, so I appreciate that part!)

THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE AS A JOKE.

I KNOW, and it's just like... really? Was that necessary? And he was so nice, at the con! And he drew them with such force of personality! I may be overreacting, but I was just so full of the glee of how much I love those women, and how much I love the way he drew them, and then it kind of got tainted a little bit. Boo.

And I have NOT read No Man's Land yet. I've read some (most, I think) of Cataclysm, but that's as far as I got. NML is on my list, however, for exactly the reasons you mentioned! (Do you have it anywhere, by any chance? I'm not even sure I've snagged it yet.)

If there is one piece of fannish advice I could give people at this stage, it would be DON'T GET INVOLVED IN FMM. It will only make you crazy.

On the other hand - monkey noises! That kid LOVES the zoo. Hee.

I just kind of wish we could have the celebration without the widespread injustice of AWESOME CHARACTERS LOSING, but I see how the competition structure is particularly inspiring. It is also, however, frustrating! To me, anyway.

MONKEY NOISES, though. AWWWWWW. (I was trying to recreate those for Mr. McK last night and failing utterly. HEE.)

And if I DO have a strong preference, then I get irrationally rageful if my favorite loses, because SOMETIMES PEOPLE ARE WRONG ON THE INTERNET AND IT IS UPSETTING.

YES IT IS. I still have to learn how to not respond when I feel someone is wrong. Working on it though.

There're two March Madness things going on on my Flist. One is tv related and the other one is of course the TGMM. Sadly I wish I could but I can't get into the tv one because hardly any of the shows I watch are on it. D:

TGMM is annoying me because WTAF 'Godspeed' is behind by TWO VOTES? But I won't angst over it because I love the song and that's all that matters. It's only fandom after all :P

AMEN, sister. It never does any good, but it's so hard to resist!

YES. VERY TRUE. (For some reason the TGMM one is easier for me because I mostly like all the songs, though I was sad last year that Bar-ba-sol lost to ADAM, even though the latter is obviously a great song. So at least I didn't feel that it was COSMICALLY UNJUST or anything. Heee.) I feel your pain!

So yeah. I love that people get so excited about it, but I, personally, can't do it. /o\ *smooshes all the great characters together on one massive Podium of Awesome*

Yeah, I don't understand the appeal at all. Maybe because I'm not multi-fannish so I haven't heard of most of the characters, or maybe because I'm not a sports fan so I don't get the whole bracketing/tournament thing, or maybe I lack the gene that makes competitiveness fun. IDK. Why can't we all love what we love? Why does one have to be "better"?

*ahem*

and he was like, "NO I'M SERIOUS. I loved that thing! It went all the way around the set!"

*DIES* That is awwwesome!

I think this is my problem, as well. It's not that I'm not competitive, it's that I'm TOO competitive, and I'm a terrible loser. Hee. (Also, while the character love is awesome, the character-bashing makes me rageful. Ugh.)

HAI. ♥
