Sing it in your head, and then sing it out loud

Feb 11, 2011 10:45

Hello from CRAZYTOWN, where I have FINALLY finished writing up my promised song-by-song run-through of the Headstones show. First, though, a message from Hugh, who is on Facebook now, and if you are a fan of his and you are not stalking him there then you are MISSING OUT, because he's all over the place with sweet comments and random comments and ( Read more... )

HI, I LOVE YOU. And the Headstones and this post and pretty much THE ENTIRE WORLD right now. We need to be in the same room so I can flail at you about every single thing that happened at this show without having to type a bunch of stuff. WE HAVE BUSINESS TO CONDUCT, MY FRIEND.

Just: we punched a guy in the head an fifty gold coins fell out of his mouth sooo we are converting that to canadian dollars

Oh my god, WHAT. I LOVE HIS CRAZY BRAIN. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Dude. DUDE. I was sitting on the tarmac at MSP on the way home and I wanted NOTHING MORE IN THE WORLD than to go kidnap you somewhere and stay up all night flailing about these things. RAIN CHECK, okay? I MISSED you! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I LOVE HIS CRAZY BRAIN.

RIGHT? How have we lived this long without regular missives from Hugh? (One of my other favorite things: someone commented about how there was no low end coming out of the PA and Hugh goes, "your banned next year douchy two shoes." DOUCHY TWO SHOES. OH MY GOD.)

I seem to remember not so long ago we were all wondering what would happen if Hugh ever joined Facebook. Would the internet suffer an awesome overload? POSSIBLY. (I still want him to join Twitter, though.)

*smiiiiiishes you from afar* ♥

SOMEONE we both know actually mentioned to Hugh that he should think about getting a Twitter, and he seemed dubious--he said he likes interaction better (AWWWWW)--but WE SHALL SEE. He doesn't even KNOW how much he would love Twitter, is the thing!

Though if they're working on a new website, I would be shocked as hell if it didn't have forums and such as a part of it. Which could be annoying-yet-amazing, in the manner of the HDRC boards (only better, because it would presumably involve Tim and Trent and Dale to some extent, too). It's interesting, actually, how far back online fandom goes with those guys! Anyway, again: WE SHALL SEE.

You have performed here an essential service for GREAT JUSTICE and for POSTERITY, and I have to say that you are a great, frothy, bubbly concoction of glee and I love you best, and it's amazing to me that you can remember so much--thank goodness for 2 a.m. debriefing--and thank the gods of rock and roll (the belligerent gods [I've been rereading my own HCL fic, omg]) you have made this post for the betterment of all of us. *smish*

Well, the videos have helped me remember some stuff I only remembered vaguely, so that helps! But I wouldn't trade the 2 a.m. diner debrief for anything. But anyway. I LOVE YOU TOO. *MWAH*

(Hilariously, I keep listening to 'Rawhide' over and over. IDK. I LIKE HIS VOICE THERE, OKAY?!)

then they SANG IT TOGETHER WITH THEIR MOUTHS REALLY CLOSE TOGETHER and GRINNING on "like a low-burning hatred, raging but dull"

This is my favorite thing that's ever happened.

And then at the end, Hugh says, "The reality is… quite frankly… an alternative proposition… OH MY GOD I'M GONNA LIVE," and we all shouted it with him, and it was chill-inducing

NO WAIT, THIS IS MY FAVORITE THING THAT'S EVER HAPPENED.

By which I mean all the things are my favorite thing that have ever happened. ALL OF THEM. Thank you for writing the things up so I can just read about them over and over again. <3

IT WAS ALL MY FAVORITE PART. And you're very welcome for the writing-up; I'm glad it's useful to someone besides me! :)

I am saving this post and reading it every day for the rest of my LIFE because oh my god. kdfhjldkjflksa.jdgk I JUST. Thank you thank you thank you for helping me relive the whole thing all over again.

Hugh also sang the rhythm on the "losing con…trol!" differently than on the album (he sings it half a beat earlier, live), which is something I've heard a lot on bootlegs, so I guess it's one of those cases where he just decided it would be better that way, but it is mildly disconcerting! Hee. DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT TOOK ME TO LEARN THAT RHYTHM PROPERLY, HUGH, GEEZ.

HA. RIGHT? Every time he did it, I was like SIGH, STOP THROWING ME OFF. XD

Also, agreed about wishing Marigold was played! and like, every other song. And I am sad that you never cared much for Pathetic Pair before! I flailed A LOT when it became clear they were about to play that, cause it's always been one of my faves. :D

BRYNN. HEADSTONES.
