1. I have no exciting Halloween stories, but I did spend the day rocking faces with awesome people, and was witness to the heroic deeds of the legendary
Batman Puplet. I also mostly TOTALLY UNINTENTIONALLY pimped
sdwolfpup into David Cook fandom that very morning (the magic bullet turned out to be
Dave climbing the scaffolding during Hot For Teacher at Sunfest; who knew? Doesn't EVERYONE do that during guitar solos?) so of course I had to bring my laptop and show her clips. All in all, a very successful day! \o/
2. People on my flist have been writing White Collar fic, and it is awesome! On the Peter/Neal/Elizabeth side of things,
china_shop wrote
Corkscrew,
Planting Seeds, and-ooh, new part!-
Evidence, and
entropical87 (who I am now going to bug constantly about writing more fic, and you should, too) wrote
Ground Floor, and it was all very awesome. And
halcyon_shift wrote a GENIUS White Collar/Leverage crossover,
Accessories, and it is a thing I never knew I needed in my life until I realized how empty my life had been without it. GO. READ.
3. Long story why, but I just heard MWK's album Judging a Bullet for the first time the day before yesterday, and… I had heard "Splinter" before, because I'm sort of fascinated by Neal's broken hand and all (SURPRISE), and I was like, "aww, that's Neal's angsty breakup song." Then I heard the rest of the album and OKAY, it's a whole angsty breakup ALBUM. AND IT IS AWESOME. It's just all… raw and guitar-heavy and Andy's voice has this growl to it that I've never heard before and awww, Neal, MY POOR LITTLE BROKEN-HEARTED ANGST-MUFFIN, and just generally OH MY GOD, IT'S SO AWESOME. So I've been listening to it ever since, and flailing about it over email with
dugrival as we indulge in rampant speculation about Neal's romantic history and whether any of these songs are about Alexis Skib and if so, exactly how awkward that must have been for Andy, on a scale of 1 to "dude, I can't sing that about my sister." (I have a huge soft spot for Neal/Alexis, based primarily on three things: one, she's Andy's sister, and that's adorable; two,
her rack is amazing, and three, I like the way Neal smiles when he's around her, awww.) Such good times. I love all of MWK's albums, but hearing this is like a whole new flavor of the awesome, like a whole crucial chapter I was missing, and I'm totally enthralled by it. I love the way Andy's voice and Neal's guitar meet in the middle on these albums, and this one feels a little bit more Neal-slanted-louder, angrier, more metallic-and I adore the way that Andy just goes with him on it and OWNS it. Four for you, Andy Skib, I am damn impressed.
4. I was going to pimp MWK to you some more, but I think that deserves its own post. BECAUSE OF THE AWESOME. (And lest you think I just like this band because I want to bone the guys in it, the truth is that-at least when it comes to Andy and especially Neal-the REASON I started wanting to bone these guys is that I like this band. FTR.)
5. So I will just round this out with pictures of my dog. He came home from daycare last Tuesday wearing a Halloween kerchief. D'AWWWWWWW.
First, some kerchief pics, in which he is Not Amused, and also Way Too Close To the Camera. Nomnomnom:
And then a random picture of him sleeping, because the camera was right there and AWWW, HE'S SO CUTE WHEN HE'S SLEEPING AND NOT BEING ANNOYING:
Fuck. Why can't I get a percentage of votes counted anywhere? THIS SHOULD NOT BE THAT HARD. Seriously, Washington, if you fuck this up... I don't even know.
