That northern boy could start a fire

First, pimping! I think everyone in C6D fandom has seen this already (probably multiple times), but for the rest of you who appreciate a hot guy or three, a vid rec:

Oh Canada, by dayln03. A fun, funny, hot as hell tribute to Paul Gross, Callum Keith Rennie, and Hugh Dillon. And how they are hot. And have gorgeous smiles. And look like great kissers. And also sometimes have no personal space with other guys. It is VERY good times, and I highly recommend it (and has anyone else had this song stuck in their head for like a week?!).

And a new-to-me Headstones clip I discovered on YouTube the other day (hi, yes, Hugh Flu is spiking again, sorry; you'd think I'd get over it eventually, AND YET): Unsound, live on Rita and Friends. troyswann tells me that Rita McNeil is a bona fide Canadian icon, but to me, she mainly appears to be the Woman Least Likely Ever To Introduce the Headstones. I mean, she totally looks like the lady down the street who bakes cookies for all the neighborhood kid and thinks "darn" is a bad word. The incongruity is pretty hilarious. Anyway, it's a good performance, of course, and Hugh only fucks up the lyrics once, that I can tell (and I have to say, that's one of my only issues with the Headstones' live stuff-it makes me cringe a little when Hugh fucks up the lyrics, I don't know why; he is clearly very used to it, as is the rest of the band, and I don't even think it's drug-related, since he still does it with the HDRC. I think maybe it's the ex-actress in me who fears blanking on lines in the middle of a performance). Trent's solo is brief but sexy; Tim has regrettably chosen to remain strong in the face of his shirt allergy (tm mrs_laugh_track) in this case, but is still hot, because, you know. Tim. And "Unsound." I approve! (And Dale is… there. Rocking out with his goofy surfer boy hair. Poor Dale. Destined to be the Headstone I Know Least and Therefore Care Least About. *pets him*)

Also some very exciting news: Sock Puppet Joe Dick now has a journal! sp_joe_dick. Thanks to zabira for getting it set up for him, as Joe is very impatient with technology (I didn't know a social networking service could be a cunt, but there you go). I don't know that he'll be updating much, but. It could happen. :) (ETA: I just noticed that SP Joe has Hugh's birthday. HEE. ♥) (EATA: How is it possible that no one else has "touch my stump" as an LJ interest?!)

ALSO. In news unrelated to Hugh Dillon! I watched the new BSG last week, and really enjoyed it. No in-depth analysis here at the moment; for that, I recommend-as always-danceswithwords ( here). But here was my brief reaction, emailed to DWW after watching:

Boy, this episode just jumped all over my buttons (in a "damn you, RDM" kind of a way). Kara and Lee! Kara and Adama! Lee and Adama! Brief Kara and Helo! Lee believing Kara when no one else does (or, which is even better, by which I mean "shippier," he doesn't CARE if she's a Cylon, he loves her anyway)! Lee taking a position within the government (though I'm still sad he won't be a pilot anymore)! Anders being tall and angsty! Baltar doing potentially intriguing Baltar-y things! I had a few quibbles (there's really a whole compartment of crazy people and everyone is cool with that? how long before people start noticing Tigh's, Anders', Tory's, and Tyrol's little book club?), but overall, I was really pleased.

I mean, the show is always good at beginnings and endings, so I am still extremely skeptical about their ability to pull this off over the course of a season. But it was nice to see an episode that really engaged me. And by "engaged me" I mean "jumped all over my buttons because HUGGING OMG." Hee.

So, for what that's worth. And now I have a meeting. Wooooo.

i am a sad sad fangirl, bsg, recs, headstones
