Hello interwebs! I am home. I was originally supposed to be home on Thursday night, but my flight out of Denver got cancelled due to weather, so I got to spend an extra day with my family, which was nice. Less nice was the saga of me getting home yesterday--missed my first flight due to a clusterfuck on the part of United, next flight was delayed, spent most of the day at the airport--but I am home and I had a lovely holiday and finished about half of the Hardest Puzzle Ever and made my family watch several episodes of dS. (My mom loved Vecchio from about ten seconds into his appearance in the pilot. Awww.) I also ate basically everything ever, from my mom's braciole to rogairedubh's rockin' homemade croutons to my aunt's fudge to my grandpa's spaghetti and meatballs (well, his recipe, anyway, as he is sadly no longer around to cook them) to fried alligator (part of my traditional dinner with Rogaire Dubh at Pappadeaux)... Italian families, y'all: they bring the fantastic food.
Since I've been busy with family stuff (and, um, eating), I have read no Yuletide fics and a sadly small percentage of DSSS fics so far, but I did want to rec the fic that was written for MEMEME: He Hadn't Stopped Christmas From Coming, a deliciously long, lovely F/K/V with fabulous detail and great characterizations (including wonderful cameos by supporting characters) and seriously, seriously smoking hot sex. For the record, I am suspecting belmanoir for the author, but whoever you are, mystery author, thank you so much! An utterly fabulous gift; I can't believe I got so lucky on my first-ever holiday fic exchange. And I am really, really looking forward to doing some more reading in the next few weeks.
And then I got home to a delightful pile of cards in the mail, and a few presents, too! Thank you all so much--what a wonderful thing to come home to. (Would whoever sent me Roger Kahn's Memories of Summer stand up, please? The shipper didn't include a name and I've wanted that book for years and would love to shower you with gratitude.) And Mr. McK had downloaded the first half-season of "Chuck" from Amazon Unbox, so I've watched the first six episodes or so and am really enjoying it.
And you guys! Registration for bitchinparty opens in TWO DAYS! I am so excited!
