OMG! Perfect timing!

Hello. I apologize for my recent emo. I am feeling much better today.

It is also madsciencechick's birthday, which I had actually not realized due to having my head up my own emo, but is absolutely perfect because, in an attempt to dislodge my writer's block last night, I wrote like 850 words of Bridezilla Joe Dick and it is all MSC's fault.

So happy birthday ( Read more... )

I feel a bit odd responding to this, given your recent circumstances, but... thank you! I hope you're doing as well as possible. *hugs*

"What, is everyone in the fucking world busy on June 8th?" Joe grumbled, sorting through the mail. Six more response cards, and five of them had checked Regrets. What the fuck? That wasn't buddies.

This is still one of the best things ever.

Write more! Hee.

*HOWLS ahahahahah!*
OMG, so, I'm reading this on my BlackBerry at a bus stop and just laughing so hard I cry. I got to here:

Billy closed his eyes and thought longingly of their old tour van, which might have reeked of spunk and cheeseburgers and John's incense but at least had meant a reasonably fast getaway when necessary.

And actually, literally fell over laughing. So, I look like a moron, and my fellow bus patrons are eyeing me warily, THANKS.

(I love it. OMG, I love it so, so hard. THANK YOU!!)

Oh, Joe. I know you don't like to admit it, dear, but you're TOTALLY the bride. Sorry?

Okay, so first, this is HILARIOUS, because omg, yes, of course it's a scam to get wedding presents, and wow, the bickering is amazing-- it's hilarious and flows really naturally-- but also? It's not just funny, it's all perfectly, perfectly in character. Your voices are all right on, and I'm still amazed because, okay, it might be crack, but this story has one of the best handles on the interpersonal dynamics in the band that I've ever seen in fanfic. Like, it's all about how much of the Joe/Billy interactions have to do with who is looking at whom at any given moment, or that it's a big deal whether Billy looks at somebody through his eyelashes/sideways or makes actual eye contact. *flail* You are amazing! It's all right here ( ... )

Oh yeah, and because clearly I did not ramble enough about Joe being absurdly emo in the last post,

"No! Goddammit, Bill, no." Joe shoved his chair back. "I'll marry you, OK, because I started this and because I fucking love you, but Jesus Christ, Billy! I am not! The fucking! Bride!"

Wow, I can totally hear this line. It's that bogus, semidesperate because-I'm-the-dad-and-I-say-so voice, right? The one Joe uses when he's trying to pull something off by casting himself as the guy in charge, assessing the (unreasonable, but he's going to deal as best as he can, of course) situation, getting down to business, etc etc etc, which is also when he calls Billy "Bill". "Hey, hey, what's goin' on back there?" "I'll manage." "He doesn't have a phone; let's goBecause, y'know, if Joe's going to actually tell Billy "I love you and I want to marry you" and he's not going to pass it off as a joke, he's got to at least pretend that he's the one driving, right? And also that, hey, he's just doing what he has to do; OK, fine, it's a dirty job ( ... )

Yes! That's exactly what I was going for--Joe is so absurdly emo, and so bad at hiding it, but that doesn't stop him from putting on the alpha dog act to try. :)

EEEEE! *flails* This is, like, the best feedback ever, thank you! I am just thrilled you enjoyed it, and that you found it in character; you're right, the genius of the concept is that it's NOT such a stretch, and I was surprised, writing it, at how easy it was for everyone to fit into place. And since this is probably the only way I'll ever be able to write these boys a happy ending, I found myself getting surprisingly schmoopy about it. :) You are such a wonderful reader, you pick up on all my geeky little details, and it makes me so happy. Thank you!!
