Curiosity got the best of me this time

Yesterday was quite the cracked-out day for me, fannishly speaking. First of all, I spent some delightful time contemplating madsciencechick's glorious concept of Joe Dick, Bridezilla. You guys, I don't normally go for crack AUs, but OMG. SOMEONE NEEDS TO WRITE THAT. And I already have a Joe story in line in my head (though, granted, my idea is nowhere near ( Read more... )

at least the M's are over .500. WOO!

*vaguely remembers hearing something on the radio yesterday, glances at Seattle's upcoming schedule*

Yup, it's official, I'm totally hitching a ride on the Mariners' fan bus until May 14. So... when's Felix due back?

Yeah, this could be kind of a brutal road trip (for travel reasons, on top of everything else), but we'll see.

Felix is eligible to come off the DL on May 4, but Hargrove was making those noncommittal "I wouldn't be surprised if he's not available then, we want to be really careful with him" types of noises last night, so... that's not particularly encouraging. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Well, look at it this way -- if any more Yankees pitchers get hurt, they're gonna have to start pulling fans out of the stands. So even Weaver is gonna look good by comparison. What a great season for Yankee Haters (though, to be honest, it does sorta suck with Hughes getting hurt... he looked like he might turn out to be a fun pitcher to watch).

Dude, Weaver's ERA is over eighteen. I defy the Yankees to come up with anyone who sucks worse than he does. And apparently the M's announced today that he'll get the start Saturday in NY, with Felix's next start coming on May 9 against the Tigers. *headdesk*

It is too bad about Hughes, though. I assume you heard this, but they fired their conditioning coach today. Clearly, something's fucked up somewhere. Unless it's just like 100 years of bad karma. Which I would be totally OK with.

Don't know if you saw this article about some players' slow starts, but I was reminded of your woes when I saw this bit, "The Mariners' Jeff Weaver is off to one of the worst starts of any pitcher in history . . . No starting pitcher in the history of the Mariners has ever had four starts to open a season worse than Weaver's: 11 1/3 innings, 31 hits and 23 earned runs."

So wow... $8 million? I feel your pain, since my team just got Mo Vaughn off the books at the end of last season.

I would just like to say that I have been pissed off about this since they signed him. God. It's fucking ridiculous. (And Rhodes? Oh yes. Season-ending surgery. Which is good in that he sucks, and he will no longer be sucking up our bullpen, but bad in that WE GAVE HIM ONE MILLION DOLLARS FOR NOTHING.)

At least it's only one year. But still. Incredibly frustrating.
