[Oh hi, Keep. It's Bryn, on video, and she's dressed in some new
clothes. They're not the usual second-hand items provided in the clothier's tower, and really not in a style she recognizes at all, but rather some from the bureau that appeared in her room some days ago. Bryn doesn't care how baggy they are because oh gosh, there were pants among

I am sorry I did not thank you for inviting me.

No apologies necessary. Like I said, I was just happy to see everyone there--oh! I meant to ask you...did you happen to see that another person from your world arrived? His name is Mads...he was a friend that was here between the first time you were here and when you came back.
[She looks so pleased to tell him this. Hooray for another friend from New America! Perhaps Nick and Mads already know each other. Wouldn't that be wonderful?]

Bryn, don't be alarmed. But Nick is going to ask you to repeat yourself. To make sure he didn't mishear you.]
Ah, por favor, could you say that one more time?

There is a man named Mads who is also from New America? When you left the first time he arrived. I got to know him a bit, and he left. Then you came back and now you are both here at the same time. I haven't had a chance to reintroduce myself but...do you know him?

You met him? In person?
Reply
Well yes, of course. A few times at least. Nick, is something wrong?

[His hands are clenched tight around his shirt. This is really doing a number on him.]

[Bryn headed there straightaway. She always enjoyed seeing Nick, but knowing something she had said had upset him pushed her to rush over. She looked around for him immediately, and her expression clearly displayed her concern and worry.]

Nick, is everything alright? You look...very upset. I didn't say anything wrong did I?
[She'd be very, very upset if she was the cause of his worries.]
Reply
Did he...hurt you?
Reply
No, of course not. He was very kind and...rather nice. I might go so far as to say we were friends?
[Sorry Nick, she never saw his true colors. She had no idea.]
Why on earth would you ask such a thing?
Reply
It was a trick! He is dangerous! You must not trust him!
[He means it. Look at all those exclamation points.]
Reply
What? Why? He seemed perfectly nice. Rather charming even...
[Although, come to think of it, his sort of charming was rather different from say, Joe's. It seemed safer to say that it was a great deal more like the people who her parents had introduced her too. Had her comfort with him been because of the familiarity, rather than a sense of his being genuine? Bryn went cold at the thought.]
Please explain...

There are places in my world, called Facilities. They do terrible things to people like me. They were supposed to...cure them. They do nothing but torture them...
[...He can't finish that thought. So he'll just switch to the point.]
Mads works for one of these Facilities, yes? He is notorious for the things he does. Which is why you must stay away from him!

To people like us.
[Her words were soft, and she swallowed. Mads hadn't known what she was back then, so surely he had been friends with her just because. But now, now that she was out, was she in danger? Bryn rubbed her arms, and noticed in the process her hands were shaking.]
You're sure? Sure that that this Mads is the same as the one you know? And that he's a danger?
