Bryn hadn't shifted to her other form in months. With her ability not being tied to the moon like in mythology or well, in Alex's case, she didn't have to unless she wanted to. It was hard to feel comfortable wandering around in her other form in such a populated area, especially since many wouldn't have any idea that it was her, but Bryn had

His mind, generally filled to the brim with mathematical algorithms and quantum theories, was too busy for something so mundane as sleep. Over the years, he found that he required very little of it compared to normal human beings, and while this struck him as ironic, he did find it useful in that it gave him plenty of time to get his inventions completed. Sometimes he would go days without rest, until with the gentle prodding of Minion, he would finally crash into a deep slumber, only to wake up several hours rejuvenated and ready to continue his work.
He’s prowling the halls himself this evening; his hands are idle and he’s growing more agitated by the day. There’s little to do here in way of technology, and there’s are very few here that he considers to be worth his time.
That’s his own fault, he realizes, but like hell if he’s going to admit it.
He doesn’t know how to function like this - in an enclosed environment with other people he doesn’t know. He doesn’t do all that well with the people he does know. The one woman he’s pined after for years can’t stand him, the one person he grew up with is his mortal enemy, and his best friend is a fish who calls him Sir.
Really, Megamind’s options are slim anyway.
He’s in deep thought when he rounds a corner, but the presence of a gigantic animal generally found only in areas that were Not Metrocity pulled him right out of his thoughts.
“…Oh.”
Well, it seemed as if he didn’t need to be in Metrocity after all to get into trouble. His fingers twitched towards the De-gun, and he backed up a step.
“Easy…”

Her bottom dropped to the ground and she lowered herself to the floor, trying not to look threatening. Bryn even purred a bit in the back of her throat and let her tail flick about lazily, hoping these small signals might imply that she was friendly.
Please don't shoot her evil friend?

Was it purring at him?
“…Er.”
If he was awkward with humans, he was equally awkward with animals that could tear him into a thousand tiny pieces and have him for lunch. His eyes drifed to those massive paws, and he cleared his throat.
“Ah. Well. We seem to be at a bit of am impasse, don’t we.”

Her tail continued to flick from side to side, and she considered how she could convey to him that she was friendly besides what she already had...
Wondering what might happen if she got to her feet again, Bryn slowly eased up to a standing position and licked at one of her paws. Perhaps feigned casual body language would help? She wasn't quite sure. Bryn had never had to communicate with humans before in this form.

One, he actually might be on the menu. One can only hope (him being the only one, he highly doubts others are much concerned about his well being here - minus perhaps Bryn and Odette) that he drew the De-gun fast enough to incapacitate the animal in order for him to get away.
Another option to give consideration to - and this seems more probably, given that he has yet to be attacked - is that this is one of the resident shifters of the Keep. Before his arrival here, this had been the sort of thing he would not have put much stock in, but he had seen and experienced enough here to realize that it is highly probable the second option - that this is a resident - is the case.
Time to test it.
“…Are you planning on making me you dinner this evening?” Magnificent creature, really. It’s taking everything in him to resist walking over.
He needs to be sure, first.

When Megamind asked a question, Bryn whuffed out a sigh of relief. Yes or no questions she could easily answer after all, and immediately shook her head from side to side.
Besides, even if she was planning on eating Megamind, she had no way of knowing whether or not his being an alien would disagree with her stomach, or worse, poison her.

So it was cognizant of its surroundings, aware of human nature and language. Fascinating.
“Well, that’s a relief.” He held his hand out in front of him, glancing idly at his gloved fingertips. Leather creaks as he shifts, and his arms are folded once more.
“So…if I were to take a wild guess here - and really, it’s just a guess - I’d have to say you were one of those…shape shifters.” He regards her coolly, though the light in his eyes is obvious.
Think of the science behind it - how is it possible? How does it work? So many questions that have been unanswered.
Granted, she may not know the answers he wants…
But still. This is fantastic, now that he knows he isn’t going to be a late night snack.

Her relief is obvious in her body language when her muscles seem to relax. Megamind deduced she might be a shapeshifter, he seems fascinated by this, not horrified or disgusted. It's a small thing perhaps, but to Bryn it goes a long way toward feeling more comfortable about others about her secret.
And as he holds his hand out, Bryn takes the opportunity to delicately sniff his fingers. It's not as if knowing his scent will help her later on but she's curious. Her senses are so much more attuned and powerful in this form.

His eyes lit up a little more, though the close proximity of the large feline is a little intimidating.
Still - he’s a villain with cred, if anything else. He refuses to let this bother him - at least outwardly. Besides, this is incredible.
“So just who are you, I wonder? Someone I know, perhaps?”
He watches her sniff his hand warily, but he doesn’t pull his hand back. He wonders briefly what he smells like to her - cologne? Leather? Something distinctly metallic? - and dearly hopes that the feline doesn’t find it offensive, and flees.

At his next question, she hesitated a moment, and then once more gave her head a nod. She wondered if he would start listing names to try and figure out who she was.
Of course, at that moment, as she sniffs his hand just a bit more, she notices the watch on his wrist. That was the one that he had shown her some days before. Bryn wondered if it would work on her in this form, and perhaps if she nudged it with her nose, he'd try. Better, if he'd remember he had shown her and take it as a clue to who she was.

A giant cranium wasn't just for looks, you know.
He tapped it and memories flashed back; vivid, exact memories of an encounter in the orchard, bragging about bending light and utilizing energy fields - photons and particles - her catlike stalking--
"Bryn?" His voice is an incredulous, hoarse, half whispered gasp.

Now all she had to do was hope that this wouldn't change things overmuch between them. Megamind was a valued friend of hers and she hardly wanted this to come between them.

"Wow! That's fantastic - incredible! How do you do it? Does it hurt? How long has it been like this?"
Of course, he's beginning to realize she can't answer him he reigns it in, and looking slightly abashed, his face colors a light shade of violet and he coughs.
"Of course, I don't expect you to answer anything you don't want to. Naturally."

She couldn't laugh, so she responded to his flurry of questions by bumping her head against his hand. Later, when she was human again she was answer most any questions she had.

On the one hand, it is not a bad thing to have someone he considers an ally, a...well. For lack of a better word 'friend'. But it's a dangerous thing, letting people in - she could hurt him, easily - without even realizing it.
He supposed that's what this 'trust' thing was that Minion went on about sometimes. He'd never extended it to anyone other than the fish before - and, he supposed to a certain extent, Roxanne and Wayne.
"Perhaps over dinner, sometime - er." That hadn't gone fantastically well the last time, he'd been an awkward mess and it had felt strangely like a date when he hadn't exactly meant it to but by Zeus he'd already said it.
"...Or elsewhere. Whatever you prefer. If you prefer. Or if you don't that's fine as well."

After all, they were friends, and during their recent conversations Bryn felt she'd come to know him well enough to know that he would would be interested in her shifting ability.
As for when and where, well, she would have to arrange things with him when she could speak again.
Bryn stretched her legs with a rather lengthy yawn and then looked up again with Megamind as she seemed to prepare to walk off. He was welcome to join her if he liked, or she could track him down later, of course...
