I'm as well as can be expected for having seen a friend thrown into a ring to fight to the death.
They couldn't have done something so horrible to warrant that reaction, could they?
[Frankly, Nick didn't seem the type to do something that would lead to a death-penalty. At least, he didn't to her.]
What about you, you're unharmed I hope? I...I meant to join you out there but someone pulled me back and wouldn't let me go.

Anna, the tiger, and he got into a fight in the halls .. I'm not sure what started it, but she was furious and Nick was just trying to get away. He isn't .. wasn't too good at being a panther .. still learning even though he'd been shifting for a while.
The crime did not at all fit the punishment .. I'll never be convinced it did.
[No, Nick is a pussycat comparatively. :(]
All but .. the axe guy skimmed me with his blade, but nothing serious. And I know you did .. I saw before things got even harrier ..

Fine enough .. Healing just fine.. Nothing to worry about in the scheme of things.

Thank you .. I am glad that you made it safely from there. Your involvement wouldn't have changed anything, although the attempt and well-meaning was greatly appreciated.
[He considers his reply to the last for several moments and then switches to audio. He is forthcoming with the information, because he is not ashamed of it or trying to hide it.]
I knew Nick was .. we met shortly after his arrival. I did not know Anna was until the trial, when I saw her there .. I have been such for about five years, although not quite the same as either of they. They are limited to the one form, while I can take three including this human body which I was born in.

But...you say everyone knows that you exist and...there are no consequences? They simply let you all live normal lives?
[She simply can't imagine that the government or some other military or scientific group wouldn't snatch up a few or more of them for their own purposes.]

We and many other beings all made ourselves known at the great unveiling several months ago .. weres, vampires, witches, fae folk, and more .. Humans still outnumber us and we're all but a small portion of the population, but we've certainly made an impact.
Consequences are .. no worse than my simply being bisexual. There are hate crimes and people that fear the unknown, but that will always be the case.
The government .. they were beginning the process of trying to pass a law when I came here. A registration act of sorts, so they could keep a better eye on the lot of us. Make sure we don't infect any of the non-infected.
[There is a snort here, clearly of derision.]
There are those that make it their life work to deliberately infect others in such a manner, but they were doing so even before the Unveiling. They've always been taken care of by their own and the matter laid to rest.

No .. it's possible to be born with it as well if one or both parents is infected. Sometimes the children aren't infected at all, sometimes they are .. but if you're not born with it, infection in later years is the only way to get it. Through physical contact with someone infected .. like a bite or scratch or cut .. Sex doesn't transfer it, so far as they've found.
I was cut and infected through contact with blood when a guy jumped me in Milan ..

[Yeah, he gets that tone, Bryn. Alex has been musing a lot lately, although perhaps not with the happiest of thoughts. He often wonders the same thing as she, though .. what if ..

I had a great support network and people that helped me through my first moon. I was luckily never alone with the change. Well, I went through the first one alone, but was found by the right people.
I dunno .. I guess I've always kinda felt like the odd one out, so it was just one more thing, you know?
