[OOC: Backdated to the afternoon of Friday, November 5th.]
[The cure is worse than she expects. She remembered seeing the elf drop to the ground, sweat, and then at the end of it all, disappear, but knowing something is going to be terrible does not prepare her for how truly horrific it is. Burning from the inside, feeling wounds heat like coals

He's stepping back from compulsively organizing and checking his guns, which he has laid out on a table, when he hears a soft thud and a groan, and his eyes widen as he glances over his shoulder.
Confirming it's Bryn, looking the worse for wear, he turns fully and moves towards her, starting to reach for her, stopping, and then just going with it, fingers smoothing down her arms.]
Bryn. [There's so much in that quiet exclamation, as his hands move to brush hair out of her face.] You're back - you okay?
Reply
King.
[Her eyes flick up toward him and she slowly shifts one arm to try and roll herself at least onto her side.]
Jamie came to see us...had a cure.
[She smiles up at him as she continues talking, deciding then and there she isn't going to tell King how painful it had been.]
I'm better now so they let me come back...
Reply
King's wounds are bandaged, though some were small enough that he didn't, and so Bryn is now privy to the bandage on his temple and arms, and the scabbing cuts besides.]
Cure...? ..Whatever, at least he came and they finally let you out again. [Questions can come later.]
Reply
Her wounds don't matter, and his can wait just a bit. The cure doesn't matter. Nothing matters but being back with the man she loves.]
Oh god, I missed you so much, King...
[She doesn't even realize it until she says those words that a weight is lifting off her shoulders. She had Tan in quarantine but there was still a part of her that had felt alone. Being with King again made her feel safe, strong enough to face whatever was going to come at them next.
Bryn tilts her head up toward him, leaning in for a kiss.]
Reply
I missed you too, sweetheart. [He brushes a piece of hair out of her face.] I've got you now, though. We're gonna be okay.
[He doesn't know if they actually will be, knowing he's lost Abby and Zoe, that his parents aren't alive but unknown to him anymore. King won't admit it, but he needs her as much as she needs him at this moment, the one steady thing he's got now.]
Reply
Yeah, we are. Got you...you got me...
[It helps to repeat that, makes it stronger in her mind. They're going to be as good as they can be potentially, now that they're together again. Bryn slowly eases closer to King and she slides her arm and a leg over his body to pull herself closer.]
Reply
He swallows slightly, pressing a kiss to her mouth again before he speaks, quieter.]
I know I said I was going to do this properly, but I don't think I can wait any longer, Bryn.
Reply
Bryn returns the kiss immediately, lingering until he pulls back. His words raise a lump in her throat however, and she swallows before replying with a smile.]
Since when are either of us proper?
[After all, Bryn had done her damnedest to leave a great deal of "proper" behind her when she'd left home.]
Reply
Well, I'd say tradition demands, but on this boat.... [He shifts, unwinding his arms from around her and rolling over to reach for the bedside table, getting something out from inside it. He moves to face her again, reaching for her again.]
Bryn... I love you. And it's taken me a while to realize that, I know, but once I did, I knew I couldn't let you go.
[King reveals what he pulled from the side table, which was a little black box.]
So even though I don't know if we're going to be able to do this properly, I wanted to ask you to marry me.
[He opens the box to reveal a ring.]
Reply
It takes a conscious effort for her to keep breathing evenly when he speaks, to keep from interrupting to reply that she loves him too. When he pulls out the small black box and opens it to reveal an engagement ring, Bryn's breath catches in her throat. She blinks back tears she smiles up at him, and there's nothing in the world that can stop her from reaching out for him to cup his face in both of her hands.]
Yes. Yes, yes, I love you too, of course I'll marry you, King.
[Bryn leans in to kiss King again, going with the moment because she bathed in fire to get back to him and this moment is more than worth it.
She pulls away with a broad smile on her face and almost shyly holds out her left hand.]
Reply
When she holds out her hand, he slips the ring from the box, sliding it onto her ring finger. It fits, to his relief, and he lets out a short exhale.]
Glad it's the right size. [He says lightly, unable to help himself, before he lets the black box fall out of his hand and wraps his arms around her, burying his face in her neck and holding her.]

As best she can describe it, it's not just hope, but conviction as well. Bryn is hoping for the best but there's this small part of her that knows that no matter what happens, she'll be fine with King by side. As for the ring, well, it fits perfectly, and Bryn's half sure that she must be dreaming that King's asked her to marry him and that his ring is now on her finger.
She looks up at him with the most genuine, heartfelt expression on her face, filled with all of the love and affection in her heart. When he wraps around her, Bryn follows suit, breathing in his scent as she buries her nose against his neck.
The words the follow are breathed out with a dreamy sigh.]
I am going to make you so happy...Going to be the best wife ever.
[Saying that word throws her for a loop. Wife. She's going to be a wife. King's wife, no less.]
Reply
You're already the best wife ever.... the best everything ever. And you already make me happy, kitten.
[He means it, too.]
I'll try to do right by you as a husband, though.
[Oh god, he never thought he'd be here. He never thought he'd have enough time for a steady girlfriend, hunting vampires as he did, let alone to ask someone to marry him, to find someone he wanted to marry. Bryn is special that way.]
Reply
Considering how happy I already am, I don't see how you won't be able to manage...
[It's beyond anything she ever imagined. Bryn had expected to make a practical, business related marriage to someone appropriate that had important connections. Marrying for love seemed like some sort of fairy tale, but there they were. They'd found each other in the worst of circumstances and were making the absolute best of it.]
I don't suppose you'd mind moving us to the bathroom would you? I need a bath or something after that cure...
Reply
I'm still gonna give it my best, sweetheart.
[After she speaks, he nods after a moment.]
Allow me to show off my manly strength to my fiance. [His tone is teasing, and after a moment he gets up, reaching over to tug Bryn to him. Hooking an arm under her legs, and then an arm under her arms and around her back, he lifts her up, carrying her towards the bathroom.]
Shower or bath? [He asks her as he sets her down on the nearest comfortable flat surface.]
Reply
Bath I think...you going to join me?
[The nearest comfortable surface happens to be the bathroom sink counter, and Bryn lets go of King when he sets her down. Her feet dangle and gently swing side to side and Bryn not-so-subtly tries to sneak glances at the sparkling ring on her left ring finger.
She's convinced that this won't sink in for months.]
