A Real Stemwinder

Obama's speech was great. I know these guys are pros, but it still amazes me how cool they are under the pressure of what, 75000 people out to see him? The New York Times' video is great, it has a little teleprompter that displays the text alongside the video. I don't think I can embed it, but this link should take you there:

If you don't know his VP pick Biden very well yet, this article neatly encapsulates all the things that are great about Joe Biden. He understands the state of play in the world, he's inquisitive and brilliant, with encyclopedic knowledge of world affairs and more importantly the personalities involved. He was part of a Congressional delegation involved in negotiating the SALT II treaty in the late 70's with the Soviets. The kind of guy who just might hold a diplomatic trump card at a critical moment. He kinda reminds me of (former secretary of state) Jim Baker, minus the evil.

Biden's speech was very good too and worth watching if you're not familiar with the guy, I'll post a working link for it later if I get the chance. Gore's speech was also good. A lot of people were impressed with Kerry's speech but I wasn't really one of them.

Check out Obama's speech and learn a little about Biden while we wait for McCain to announce that Lieberman will be his running mate. Or T. Boone Pickens. Or someone.
