I don't know quite what to say...

I was reading the BBC website this morning and I came across this article about a little Jewish girl who narrowly escaped being taken by the French police during the Second World War when her neighbour intervened and claimed she was her child. Her parents both died at the hands of the Nazis, they died simply for being born and I just can't accept that things like that actually happened. She was passed from family to family in France during the war, some of them beat her, some of them left her shoeless to herd goats... and this abusive crap was so much better than what happened to everyone else to be noteworthy.
