The only thing I've ever wanted to do was be an actress. It's a long family tradition, really. We've all been associated with show business in one way or another. I can even remember back to when I was a very little girl and I was running barefoot in the backyard. Dressed in a pink tutu and pointing my magic fairy wand high up to the sky, I wished long and hard upon that special star to make me an actress. It is what I love. It is my passion. Now and forever.
I don't know if many people can actually say that about acting these days. Some people are just in it for the money or the fame and attention it ultimately brings them. It's rare that you find anyone who is more interested in the process and art that is involved with getting into a complex character. The moods, nuances, and emotions necessary to get the right tone you're looking for isn't that easy to achieve. It's the evolutionary process that I really enjoy. Making imagination real, is what my father always called it.
It may explain why so many actors that you usually associate with big Hollywood movies are now resorting to acting on stage. When you're on stage, you become totally absorbed with your character and your surroundings. There is no CGI or green screen there to support you. You rely only your god-given talents and those of your costars. It's the ultimate rush... I wish you could feel it.
