Election Day Ramblings...
The day started off well considering that it was really just a continuation of yesterday ... I really must make more of an effort to actually sleep. Went to McVomit to get breakfast for me and the missus ... Why does McDonald's coffee always taste like it's been on the burner for a week? They do advertise "Premium Blend" java now, are they hiding that stuff in the back where only the employees can drink it? ... Came back and listened to NPR while greasing up my guts and diluting the blood in my veins with caffeine.
Apparently most of the nifty new electronic voting machines here in Pennsyl/tucky aren't working ... Yeah, that's a big shock ... And people are whining about having to fill out a paper ballot ... Um, How do you think we voted before there were fancy schmancy machines to make the process more idiot proof? Correct! With paper ballots!
The actual voting time takes about 3 minutes so stop bitching.
Once I found the 1 entrance to the school out of 7 that wasn't locked (Around back, down an alley and through a parking lot)I waited for one person to be processed, got my ballot, MADE them look at my ID (Even though they had my info in their book)and proceeded to the little table with three raised sides and a few pens, scribbled in the appropriate boxes and fed my ballot to the scanner (No doubt there will be a problem found with the scanners too)and left.
I never really liked the curtained voting booths because I would forget to vote while I was busy in there looking for the coin slot to drop some quarters into so I could see the dirty movie. I can see why in some countries you may want privacy when voting but I really don't see the need for it here in the US, it's not like there are secret policemen lurking around just waiting to see how you voted so they can drag you off to the interrogation room for a little fun with rubber hoses and lead pipes. You are one out of millions ... who really cares how you vote? ... Aside from the politicians themselves of course, who, if they really cared would have been hanging around outside the school to help me find the wretched entrance.
The rest of the day will be spent doing laundry and dicking around on the pc, and the weatherman and my spine is telling me that it is going to rain this evening ... yay.
