Zell Miller is the leading conservative Democrat in the Senate. His views on the direction of the Democratic party are about as stilted and old-fashioned as his awkward mastery of the English language.
He typifies an attitude of Republican divisiveness, and his platform rests on the old-style Southern Democrat we-must-bear-up-under-northern-aggression type underpinnings. He fosters the crossover vote for those few Dems that lend support to the Bush camp and has endorsed many of Mr. Bush's flawed policies. He's also a Bush 2004 endorser.
Even so, moderate conservatives have often shied away from having an awfully risky association with him - especially since they know that the more persons of color, labor, women, gays, and disaffected moderate Dems they can attract - the more the Republicans may be saved from political irrelevance.
Just some information to show *my* support for my party, the wildest party on Capitol Hill!
