So, here I am, in France, and what's the first thing I do when I get to my room? Check for wireless internet. but... score, apparently a neighbor across the street has wireless that I can access, and thus, here I am.
It's been a looooong day. Flight was at 11pm on Tuesday, but we got to the airport at like 4:30 because the weather was bad and my mom wanted to make sure I got there in time (we were supposed to meet as a group before checking in 3 hours before the flight).
As predicted, the program is unbelievable unorganized-- they gave the wrong weight limit to a number of people in the group, and thus they had to either pay extra or take things out of their suitcases when they wanted to check their luggage... surprises in airports (of any sort, really) = bad.
The flight was okay-- I watched Forest Gump because none of the other choices looked at all appealing, and I haven't seen that movie in forever. However, like an hour into the movie, the plane undergoes some serious turbulence (i'm talking the entire plane shaking like it was going to crash)... which was not fun. and therefore prevented me from sleeping for the bulk of the trip.
My host family in Bordeaux has this huge house and therefore hosts lots and lots of international students. There are going to be like at least 3 other students here while i'm here, and i'm only here for 2 weeks.
Classes (intensive language workshop classes, that is) start tomorrow at noon (i think they realized we need sleep)... i think the rest of today is reserved for unpacking, relishing the fact that i have internet, and then sleeping. lots and lots of sleeping.
