After talking to the people at the college of Arts and Sciences, I've decided to keep my PR major, but add a concentration in Pre-Med. Basically, even starting the Microbiology or BCMB minor would require 3-4 more years of school, because not as much as I though switched over.
But with a pre-med concentration tacked on to my PR degree, I will still be able to get in to med school, and actually might have an advantage now because of the uniqueness of my degree. And I can still graduate on time if I take summer school. And I read the admissions requirements for UT Memphis's Doctor program and I would have exceeded all the requirements of science and electives and everything.
And because I'm ahead in my PR stuff, I'm not worried about having to stay in college for 6 years. And I have $2000 in communications/advertising scholarships for next year that I get to keep ($$ in my pocket!).
And so far everyone I've talked to in Arts and Science and Memphis and everyone seems to thing this is the best option for me to achieve my goals. yay.
So yeah...Public Relations with a concentration in Pre-Med. Cool.
PS Is anyone taking Chem 1110/1120 this summer at Memphis? Bc I so am!
It sounds so crazy it just might work out to my advantage.
