Have you seen
ruuger's latest icons? Being Human beauties, among much else.
Beautiful day - just on the chilly edge of warm, so you don't frazzle sitting out, and all the spring green looks goregous. Though the people in dinky vest tops and sandals look a trifle goosebumpy. This is *spring* people - not midsummer. Also: England.
Stunning blue sky is still greatly enhanced by total absence of planes. So peaceful and clear. OTOH, we will soon be seeing the exotic fruit and flowers going from supermarkets if this pesky ash doesn't clear (thank goodness it wasn't last month when there's so much less produced domestically - we'd be out of salad veg too!).
I'm also getting slightly concerned Mum may not be able to get back easily (she's in Italy, due on Tuesday). Admittedly, being retired, she only needs to come back in time to pack for her next (car-based) holiday on Friday... hard life. I'm sure she's fine, and she's on a tour anyway so there's plenty of backup. But still, there's a lot of competition for trains and coaches, which could make for a strenuous trip if the planes really aren't working.
Shopping for godson's birthday today. Why boys' toys so foul and incomprehensible? I've got a robot game thing and an evil spiky plastic creation that turns into a ball if you flick it. (Apparently a desirable characteristic). So glad I don't have to live with the gifts I buy. Toyshop looks like sixth circle of hell, with all the vile demonic things on the walls. And Alvin & the Chipmunks singing Staying Alive as the soundtrack. In fact, it may actually *be* one of the lesser known circles of hell - 2b, or something.
Finally, brief woe. It has suddenly become impossible to buy angel hair pasta round here. Why people, why? Very low on the scale of social tragedy, I admit, but for goodness' sake, it keeps forever and you don't need to stock masses. Why did it go out of fashion? Cooks quickly, tastes good, makes sauce go further. Gah. Damn you, fickle goddess of cuisine.
