LOL I'm not even going to touch these! I hate to cook (I can do it, and have for multiple people for much of my adult life - but not for fun) and I'm a fussy eater to boot. :)

My dad didn't like peppers or cucumbers either. He said they gave him "the greps". Heh. Must be something in them. I, on the other hand...lurves them! And lemons!

I always have lemons - I agree they are such a nice way to spruce up something.

I like your Mediterranean answer. I wish I’d said that for all the reasons you said ;)

They kind of go together - if you want a bright flavour like lemon to gee something up, it goes well with Mediterranean food.

Yes on the tomatoes (in season which is right around the corner here) and lemons! They boost every dish they're in.

Alllll the tomatoes! And I really love a lemon. I know there are other ways to sour, but they are my best friend.

What interestingly difficult questions!

I can live without tomatoes, except as an ingredient, so I'd manage fine as long as I could have tinned ones or paste. But I would find it hard to cook anything but cakes and puddings without onions.

And if I could introduce the whole world to one ingredient - your lemon, or limes are tempting, but I think I would choose ras al hanout... or there again, za'atar.... :)

Oh there are so many others - garlic and onions, I agree. And I adore ras el hanout in winter. Such a gorgeous mix. (I put it on roasties sometimes and it's perfect.)
