Oh my lord, this has been quite a week. And I'm not very on top of things, but I made it to the end. I'm travelling all of next week, too, and I have a bad feeling about how much luggage I'm going to need for four nights in October. Probably not just living out of my backpack like usual. I need to start getting to grips with that tomorrow. But ( Read more... )

I must have missed the Friday 5. Itching to write something but I’m going out this morning so it will have to wait.

Very much nodding at your #2 answer!

Hopefully you'll get a chance to spend some time on LJ, but it does sound like you're wildly busy at the moment.

Love you answer to number two. And so agree with you on the name thing - I didn't, it would have felt weird.

I mean, it's never come up for me, but I am the daughter of a hyphenator and granddaughter of an unmarried mother, so the idea of losing your surname has been out of date for a century among our lot...

2. That really is a lovely story of those two cricketers and you're right about sportsmen not being able to do the same.

4. I disliked my surname so was happy to trade up to the mister's.

5. We should already have our first woman President. We were robbed.

tbh I'd have asked Nat Sciver out if I could have got near enough, so I feel this one. Me, too!

I am so happy about the cricketers. I was at the theatre today with one of the group who was at the World Cup Final with me when they first get together and we are totally taking vicarious credit for their happiness. We cheered them so hard that day.

5. Yes, you should. I hope you do soon.

I think I agree with your answers - although surprised that your gender is affecting your pension age as mine is 66, which is also the age for men born on the same day. And older than S2C's pension age as he is a year older than me.

Name changing on marriage - I didn't bother when we first got married, but did change to his when I changed job - but this was a practical decision as I was so fed up with people getting my original one wrong. They still manage to get this one wrong occasionally, but at least only the spelling, rather than coming up with a totally different name!
