Ooh, I like this very much! I fear I'm going to have to ask for your fanon Faith-age, because I can't work out how far this is set in the future (if at all!), heh... :/ It didn't affect my enjoyment though!

It's a bit vague, actually, though definitely In The Future.

There was a Faith-age discussion a few months ago which had me reconsidering (I had thought of her a younger than Buffy). Someone else's fanon (see how great my referencing is?) is to have Faith slightly over Buffy's age and her watcher dying during Faith's Cruciamentum. Not my idea, and I'm not wedded to it, but that kind of age now fits in my brain.

So this is four years post-Chosen, or thereabouts. The longer fic will fill in a bit of that time, if it gets written. Long enough to have a whole new way of operating the Council worked out, anyway.

I like this very much. Giles/Faith is actually one of my favourite het pairings (not sure where that came from) and it isn't written nearly enough. Very intrigued to read your longer fic featuring those two.

Thanks. I like G/F too, though usually Scooby/Giles fics just feel inappropriate. But I'm pretty sure Faith doesn't see him as a father figure.

Oooh, fascinating world-building in this snippet. I'm definitely hooked and willing to hear more about the two of them. Either what happens next, or what happened before. (Though what happens next sounds like it's about to be plotty, which is always welcome!)

Hah. I'm tickled at the idea of Faith talking in Giles' subconscious...

“Ridiculous woman. As if I’d miss this chance to talk to you.”

And look at Giles, actually saying what he's thinking! This is some kind of influence Faith has had on him.

He couldn’t resist it; but she never answered that one. Not on the phone, anyway. Just a soft “Yeah” and she was gone.

Oh, yes. Those words would be especially hard for either of them, and Faith's "Yeah" rings very true.

I love all the things that they don't say in this fic and all the little things Giles knows that could only come by long intimacy. Their relationship is very understated in the fic, and yet foundational to it: Faith's importance to Giles is in every line.

I can't wait to see the meatier complementary fic.
