This is really interesting! And I like the way you've woven Ruby's bemusement over and discovery of these new bodies with her relationship with Sam. I wouldn't want to say that being an omega causes the shift in her feelings there towards the end, because that would be icky and also she seemed to find her way to some of those feelings in canon without needing any a/b/o help, but I think being an omega does give her a very convenient excuse.

One of the things I like about Ruby in canon is how she's screwing Sam over, but not because she doesn't like him. She seems to honestly think it's in his best interests! And I think you capture some of that complexity here.

Okay, firstly, thank you for commenting, because, you know, so very welcome. I thought I'd finally broken fandom.

Yes, I'm determined Ruby's not omega-ed into changing feelings, at all, not least because she has such self awareness whatever the meat suit she's wearing. But she's perhaps less 100% than she thought she was about the project, even if she's still 99%? Sticking in that body is a choice she makes, and not a logical one, perhaps. And the changing bodies gave her more chance to explore aspects of herself than she'd had before - and more chance to project what she's thinking onto an external factor, not onto her own character. I still read her, as you do, basically sure that the rise of Lucifer is a good thing for Sam, as well as the demons (or along with the demons perhaps I should say).

I hadn't thought about the self-exploratory aspect, but yes, exactly!

And aw, I think people are paying A/B/O Ladies less attention this year? Hopefully people will come through and read all the fic once posting is over tomorrow.

This was really intriguing! I enjoyed the interplay between Sam and Ruby. I also enjoyed how nice Sam is, despite his alpha tendencies.

This was also only my second a/b/o fic ever so I'm still learning what that all means.

Thanks so much! These a/b/o dynamics intrigue me so much, for the social aspects rather than the sex. I like to think about people trying to fight against strong biological urges and social conditioning both - and Ruby only has one of those to fight, so you'd back her to win out.
