For Invisible Ficathon on DW, which remains an awesome idea.
I found it incredibly hard to think of prompts for this and now I'm struggling with the Dear Author - because I love the idea of this ficathon but I keep forgetting to write about fanfic of the non-existent original, instead of writing about the non-existent original itself. I hope my prompts were quite in-world, as though the originals did exist, but I can't keep up that consistency here.
So. I'd love to see the odd snippet of the non-existent originals, though of course that's not the challenge here. I'd love a very cracky obviously fanfic trope tribute to something (tentacle porn? High School AU? Collaborative fic written by two authors who disagree? Yay! Anything except for OTT badfic - especially poor spelling causes me pain). I'd love a completely serious response to one of my prompts as though you love and know the source inside out - maybe a fill in the blanks, missing scene, scene coda - or you love the source but have that fannish urge to Fix It. If you'd like to write fic as a character from the source canon (e.g. in Discworld, Lady Sibyl is writing a fic about Ironhammer and Bloodaxe - not that I've requested them, don't panic), that would be super. If you'd like to see the original source as problematic and write a version that works better for modern moral senses, that would be super. Genderswap, time travel, fusion with another canon (especially those I write in - Discworld, Supernatural, Buffy or my Yuletide fandoms - all on AO3)... Yeah, just go with it.
I always say write with a free hand because I like reading what people enjoy writing. But you really couldn't have a more free hand than a canon that doesn't exist. So, enjoy yourself!
