Bingo!

I've just posted my line bingo to
mundane_bingo. I'm not expecting to do any more prompts from there, but I've been pondering the undone squares on my card (which is here).

I don't know how others fill multi-prompts like the bingos. I'm guessing there's a lot of waiting for inspiration, and yep, I do that too. For schmoop_bingo, a lot of the prompts fell naturally into pairings. I knew Vi/Dawn would work for soulmates and cloud watching, while many of the other pairs would vomit at the very idea. Pregnancy stories had to be Wesley/Illyria, and I had Faith snowbound on the phone to Giles right from the start.

But some other prompts didn't work so well. Summer holiday? Kissing it better? Anniversary-perfect gift? I'd done some along those lines already for my existing pairings, and nothing was speaking to me. Plus, I wanted an edge; paired schmoop was getting dull. So Talia was created, and joined Willow/Oz in a whole new, way more complex, relationship which I want to explore further now.

With mundane events, pairings aren't a given, and in many ways that leaves you with even less to work with. So I first picked a couple of prompts which really worked with characters (especially Lorne, trying to remember how to say 'good evening' in a foreign language). But the rest of the squares, I tried a random number generator and 25 Jossverse character names (I bundle together tricky types like Nina and Eve, and skip the odd person I don't want to write). Then matched random numbers to prompt squares.

Okay, I usually cheat. The first number doesn't always work. Sometimes, the fifth doesn't, at which point it's probably time to give up on the prompt randomness. But sometimes, you sit and look at what randomness produces and it feels just right. Downside is, it means I have a square full of drabble prompts that haven't been written.

So here are my favourite undone mundanenesses. I may never write these. You should feel free to:
Start of a new season (Wesley)
Having a cold (Gunn)
Returning a defective item to the store (Andrew)
Bouncing a crying baby (Buffy)
Locked out of house/car/spaceship (Cordelia)
Bats in the house (Dawn, eeeeee!)
Having to find enough quarters to do laundry (Willow)
finding something you really want in an online store but they don't ship internationally or else they reject your one and only credit card for no reason and seem to think that you should just use another one (Angel. Someone please write this!)
Dim sum (Illyria)
Having mediocre sex with the significant other (Faith)

Some of these cry out to be written. I want Illyria to eat dumplings.
