When it rains it pours.
Wendy has gone back to Malaysia. That's been weighing heavily on me lately. She was unsuccessful in her applications to grad school. I just don't feel ready for marriage and that is the obvious way to keep her here. She really needs to work and her visa does not permit it.
On top of it, my step dad Gunnars is in the hospital. Pretty seriously ill. His MS masked many illnesses that have taken a great toll on his body.
I've gone back to climbing, well hopefully. I took about six weeks off for a bad elbow. It seems ok, we'll see. I'm really weak though. Fell off of 5.8/9 and struggled on 5.6!
Been having more beamtime than I know what to do with at the APS. Trying to sort out some alignment issues with the diffractometer and looking at diffraction of BTO nanowires. It's been fun, but tiring. I need another vacation.
Went to San Diego with Wendy before she left. She flew out of LA so we took the opportunity to hang out at Lynda's for a week. It was really nice to revisit some of my old stomping grounds in North County. It made me miss my dad tremendously though. So much has changed in the last few years. I would really like it all to go back to the way it was.
