backpacking through Asia - part2

May 30, 2008 17:24

Very briefly, until I get more details on the situation.

I plan on taking a leave of absence from work to pursue
a dream of mine.  My goal this summer is to save up as much
money as I can and take it and spend it for a trip to Asia... If I
can plan things appropriately, I want to do it somewhere around
September or October.

I want to pretty much go hitching through Asia:  Japan, China, Korea
Thailand and quite possibly the Philippines.

I am getting my passport renewed and will be attempting to make an
official schedule or plan with where I will be starting.  This isn't a joke
or something that I'm just tossing around for fun.  I'm honestly
going to be putting all of my eggs in a single basket for a trip and experience
of a lifetime.  And on top of it all, I am doing this alone.

Most of my trip is probably going to be wandering around looking and studying
at as many Zen temples/centers I can make it to.  So not only a vacation, but a
spiritual trip as well.  I'm really looking forward to getting all of the pieces together
for this.

I've been saying that with my luck, I'll probably end up as a Buddhist monk and not
make it back to the States.  I'll be sure to post as many updates about this exciting
new adventure.

good fortune to all!
namaste.

asia, leave this plan, japan, temples, start fresh, zen, study, backpacking
