I know exactly what he's talking about here. I can't explain it - but it's this heavy feeling that always seem to be a part of our lives. Not quite sadness, I think the word he's looking for is melancholia.
Maybe it's the closeness to nature, the fact that our people used to live few and far between, often left to the whims of mother earth? But that could also be said about many other countries... Maybe it's the darkness in the long winter?
Have I talked about this before? Oh, never mind.
