Street Scene was GREAT!

Okay, so the trip to San Diego wasn't at all bad. The drive only was about 2 hours long, but no still traffic (although for 15 minutes there was a funky part on the 5). Wes and I got to my uncle's house early, and had eaten and were resting up. My cousin Stephen stopped by to talk some shit (like he always does), but we left to go on our way to Street Scene. There were alot of bands I've wanted to see a concert of (more of my type of music) so I was glad to be there and spend my 2 year anniversary with Wes. Friday while in line to get into Street Scene, Jesus Screamers were passing out get of jail free cards to people, saying that we were heading for hell. I guess a girl had flashed him and they started screaming, "Who owns this woman? Someone come claim her!". This is from what the San Diego newspaper had said. We then started to hear Nine Black Alps, but left for Rock Kills Kid who put on a great show; then off to get their autographs ( I ended up getting Nine Black Alps and R.K.K. while wes waited for Wolfmother's signings). I went to watch Yelllowcard (which Wes finally admitted were actually a good band live to listen to) then off to Wolfmother, where they proceeded to have people arrested because EVERYONE and their mother went crazy during White Unicorn. Queens of the Stone Age was a riot because some douchebag had thrown a bottle at Josh Homme and he had said, "The only reason you threw the bottle at me was because I fucked your mom fifth last night. She didn't need to suck my dick so much too. Why does she have to be so greedy?!". That was a damn riot right there. Bad Religion and Social Distortion made me realize how old they really were. It was kind of weird to see the lead singer or SD having his eyeliner sweating all over his wrinkled face but they did indeed rock. I ended up seeing the whole AFI set which was awesome because they really knew how to put on a show. It was probably my favorite night.

Saturday we didn't need to see anything until 6 pm so we got up and went to Wes's Grandpa Jerry's (his dad's dad). I was freaking out about meeting him but it turned out to be a great thing. We had a chat and talked about work and school etc, etc then went off to the beach, which was the best beach ever [bless Encinitas, Wes better inherit that beach house!!!] then had lunch of lasagna and a kickass salad his grandpa made. I ate so much I swear I thought I was going to throw up. Then we went back to Uncle John's and headed of to night two of Street Scene. Saw the Subways who by far put an absolute great show, just rocking out, the whole nine yards. At the very end, the lead singer just straight out dove into the drummer right when their last song was over and started throwing the drums all around. It was soo great. Went to their signing afterward, then to to the Editors, where Wes was (all the guys are hot! DAMN!)

And I would like to just put a blurb that WE GET IT ALRIGHT? The Editors, She Wants Revenge and Interpol all sound like Joy Divison's Ian Curtis. I love "Love Will Tear Us Apart" but stop it. We know they all sound like them. Every single artist out there is a copycat; don't even try to deny it, it's not like they woke up from some freaking dream and thought hey, let me try out this sound that I thought off while I was having R.E.M.s. Idiots.

Anyways, Editors= great show. The Shins I had already seen when me, Wes, Zulema and Donald went to the Hollywood Bowl to see Belle & Sebastian. They were good too. But the Yeah Yeah Yeahs got moved up since My Chemical Romance backed out after burning themselves or something the day before shooting their new video so we saw the first part (the chick is ugly and scary and wore the oddest costume but liked their set). The last ones we heard was Bloc Party which did a good job and played 2 songs off their new album that they're recording.

We left, went back to the house and left this morning.
Now I must get ready for Tuna's Dinner. Call me!
