Beyond tired

I have gotten very little sleep in the past several days:

It started Friday/Saturday. After work, I went to a job fair. Found some very interesting possibilities (like a 911 dispatch job which I'm going to apply for - I just need to schedule a typing test first), and then headed home. That was about 11:30-ish. At 3:30 I was awake and going to the church for a Bible study/AirSoft war.

Didn't get home until late and pretty much went straight to bed (11:00). And then I got a phone call from Tris (about 12:00). She was calling on behalf of Stephanie.

Stephanie's going to school at a Bible college in Portland. She had to deliver a sermon for a class, and would get bonus points if she had someone lead worship. So she asked Tris, and Tris asked me to accompany. Okay, yeah, sure, no problem.

We had to be there at 9 am Monday.

Anyway, after the conversation with Tris (which lasted until about 2:00), I couldn't do more than doze. So I stayed up until about 2:00, at which point I took a nap.

Woke up at 6:30, did some running around in preparation for Monday morning, and then tried to go to bed at about 11:00.

Yeah; not happening.

At 2:30 I quit trying. I mean, I'm not going to succeed anyway, and if I do I won't be able to get up in time (5:30). So, at 5:30 I took my shower and at 6:15 went to Tris' place.

She, Laura and I practiced a little bit, then headed towards the motel to pick up Rich. We met him walking along the way, got gas, and headed to Portland.

Not knowing what exactly we'd be faced with, I came prepared: two 20' guitar cables, one 10' guitar cable, a variety of drum sticks, and a direct box (has to do with impedance and stuff). Turns out we were in a small classroom that had a piano (about a full step flat - that was okay, though; I had Laura play an E below C so I could tune to the piano). No mics, which meant Tris really had to make sure she used the hand signals to tell me and Laura where to go. But it went well.

And Stephanie did a very good job, especially for her first sermon. I'll have to take a close look at the passage of Scripture she used (Colossions 3) and use it on a Wednesday.

Anyway, after her class was over, we went to pick up Tris' wedding dress and some stuff from Clackamas Town Center. Then we got some Taco Bell (Thank You, Stephanie!) and headed home.

Cashed my check, headed back to the church to put back the gear I borrowed, then went home to try to sleep.

Didn't happen.

So I've been up for well over 24 hours, on very little sleep.

Oy.
