My sedation has gone away and now I'm back in the cycle of waiting for the next anxiety attack. What good a three day prescription of Xanax did. Psh ( Read more... )

I'd say not to waste your fucking time on Xanax, and this is coming from someone that's been on it for four years. I had massive anxiety attacks that landed me in the hospital when I was fourteen and they pacified me with Ativan and then eventually got me addicted to Xanax. I thought it was the best shit ever because it "got rid" of panic but it's merely covering up the problem, not fixing it. You eventually start needing the drug because you're physically dependant on it, not because of anxiety. Especially since you're becoming an adult, don't waste your fucking time, I'm almost completely weened off it and it's hell. It turns you into a catatonic zombie and you have NO energy, get "the shakes", numbness/tingling and other shitass side effects. I'd only recommend it to someone I hate.

But since you're having panic issues it's alright to ask a psychiatrist for a prescription of say, 10 xanax a month. I do that with Vicodan for menstrual cramps so I don't get addicted to yet another substance. If you ask for a small amount of pills just to HOLD YOU OFF so you don't have panic attacks that throw you in the hospital, that's fine. But you can't let it become a regular thing because it will turn you into a simpering drug addict. I chose to come off it, nobody told me to get off it. And it's seriously so much better confronting the anxiety and finding other methods rather than depending on a physical substance that will only break you.

I'm not going to. The most it did for me was get me a couple of days rest. It knocked me right out. I'm looking for something to just stop them for the while, like you said. Because it's been 10 years, maybe more since I've had them. And I've tried all the bullshit breathing excersises and so on.

So I'm going to try that and another anti-depressant. Even though all doctors are being a complete bitch right now.
