I am conducting a poll for school. I would appreciate it if you would take a minute to fill this out, I need at least 75 people. Thank you.

I think it should be against the law to use a cell phone while driving if you're just holding it up to your ear (therefore driving with one hand) but not if you have a headset (therefore both hands are free to drive).

studies have found that using a hands free headset is no better than using a cell phone the usual way. it isn't a matter of hands, it's a matter of how your brain is working.
here's a link that will explain it better than i:

I have heard that and definitely see why that would be true. I guess I'm just thinking more in Pittsburgh terms, where all the roads are windy and up hills... It's a lot easier to drive with two hands than with one, so I feel like I drive a lot better when I'm using a headset versus just holding the phone.

Ah, and see, out here in the flat, flat midwest, using one hand v. two hands really doesn't change a thing.

I've heard that eating while driving is far more dangerous than talking on the phone while driving. I would also be concerned about putting on makeup, reading, etc. while driving.

Of course, when I talk and drive, I am perfectly willing to drop the phone mid-sentence in order to attend to driving hazards (just like you would if you were talking to someone sitting next to you in the car). There have been many times where I've done so to my husband, or my mom. Of course, I don't know how many people are willing to do that.
