I knew that this weekend was going to be packed; I did not foresee just HOW busy it was going to be.
I was pulled out of a promotional bit for "Nutcracker" on Saturday, because of a last-minute call from work. Our least-experienced operator was working solo, and was overwhelmed by the phone calls, and stress of a much-delayed batch cycle. I went in and quickly determined that the guy does not know how to prioritize. After an hour, I had thing pretty well sorted out, even though the batch cycle was still delayed by 12 hours (They eventually backed out of it, and processed two day's of data that night).
I made the afternoon rehearsal of "Nutcracker". I ran long, but that was not unexpected. Checked in at work after that, and assisted with turnover duties. Had to assist in manually closing a boat load of files so that a different batch cycle could run. I didn't get home until after 21:00.
Sunday went far smoother, if for no other reason than the operator at work was no longer flying solo. While they still had a very full platter, it was very much under control by noon. Rehearsal for "Nutcracker" started at noon, and I was home by 15:15. Had time to take a leisurely shower and mentally take a deep breath before heading for the PHMC concert venue.
We sang to the biggest house we have ever entertained. The place was packed; to the point of having to break out additional chairs. It was literally Standing Room Only. I picked out friends, former chorus members,
designerotter and his friend Bonnie; even Fr.Andrew and his wife Suzanne showed up! We sang our little hearts out. By the time we got to our encore, and signature piece, "Sing A Rainbow" we were exhausted, both vocally and mentally; in short, we botched it, big time, but no one seemed to care too much.
madisonbear reported suffering a panic attack just prior to coming to the concert venue. He had worked his way through it and had brought back-up meds, just in case. As daunting a situation as the concert was for him, I'm happy to report that he got through it with flying colors, and is eager to participate in the next concert. He has grown and stretched his boundaries so much in the past six months...I am so proud of him!
