Another price drop

Sep 18, 2006 09:16

Gas has dropped to $2.49/gal locally.

While I think this is a good thing, it's rather sad that I'm getting excited about gas prices falling below $2.50/gal.

At the risk of sounding like everyone's grandfather, I honestly remember when gas was about fify cents per gallon. You could fill up a bone-dry tank for about $5 and drive forever.

*Sigh*

"We drove gas-guzzling tanks made of steel and chrome that got only 15 mpg, using leaded gas, without catalytic converters, child restraints or air bags. They were rolling death traps that polluted the air and wasted valuable, irreplacable fossil fuels...AND WE WERE GRATEFUL!"

Goodness ! (Hello there)... I had no idea you were old enough to remember those long lines. When I started driving I remember passing up a station advertising 47 cents/gallon, and driving around til I found one featuring 42 cents. - LOL

LOL ! ... At the time I was probably trying to figure out how to avoid the military draft. Failed, but survived intact through sheer luck.
