DKM St. Patty's tickets went on sale today. I decided yesterday it wasn't worth the trouble this year.
I'd go to the Friday night show at the Avalon, but there's no way my mom is going to lend me the car to drive there. Sure, it's still 3 months from now, but I'm going to have to have had my license and a perfect driving record for years before she'd let me drive 2 hours out to Boston in her car. So that show is out. The Saturday afternoon show at Aggainis is out, too, for a couple of reasons. 1. Arena show? I'd rather see a Warped Tour set than repeat the UMass spring concert. Especially a version of the spring concert surrounded by people who actually know the songs. That was what made the spring concert fun. The crowd was tame. There was no pushing for the front, no crowd surfers. 2. Now that I waited several hours, Ticketmaster says they're out of floor tickets. I can't imagine how weird it would be to see that band from seats. 3. The afternoon show worked out great for me last year because it meant I could take the bus. Between the ticket price (it would be closer to $40 by the time Ticketbastard adds on its fees) and the bus ticket, we're now talking cost outside of what I'm willing to spend to see that particular show. 4. Stupidty increases with crowd-size and DKM have an incredibly moronic fanbase. An arena-sized group of them all in the same place is going to suck.
The shows in March are fun, and I understand why the band would rather play a couple bigger show than half a dozen little ones. We're still talking one of my favorite bands here. I'll probably be a bit disappointed if I find out they played "10 Years of Service," but I'll live.
