Senior project update.
1) head's in the kiln. will come out on friday, glazed saturday, and fired again.
2) limbs (i.e two hands, two feet, two calves, and two arms.) are almost halfway formed with plaster strips. Once I have the strip models for all halves of the four eight casts, they all need to be thickened with two inches of more plaster added on. They will then be taken to MCTC clay will be pressed, seamed, and left to dry. hopefully I can do all of THAT this weekend so I can get the limbs in the kiln by the end of next week, so they can be glazed and thrown back in..
3) top part of dress is halfway complete. I still half to cover the back half with 1/4 inch strips of duct tape.
4) the torso has become a part of the skirt.
5) the skirt needs the most time now. I am starting the ruffles but there are almost fifty of them. Once I get the skirt to my liking I have to do the duct tape strip thing again (to ensure smooth texture)
6) Once the skirt and top are done, they need to be spray painted the hell out of until they have a flat surface, then they will be sprayed white.
7) Then i get to cut ribbons out of soda cans to attach to the ends of the ruffles and parts of the dress.
8) Hopefully by this time the head will be home, so I will drill holes in it and attach the hair (which is also complete)
9) Build a copper pips underskeleton to support the sculpture. the base of the bust/head, the tops of the arms, the actual lamp centers of the skirt and top, and the tops of the calves will all be connected and supported.
10) The base will be made with iron grates, with the bottoms of the feet fastened to it. The entire sculpture will be wheeled or driven to the site at 4am, put up, and cement will be poured into the base at the site. then I will go home and fall into a coma.
