Whenever I drive from Clermont (which happens to be only a few miles east from Groveland, but don't worry there aren't too many rednecks here; just a bunch of recent retirees) to the Tampa-area, I always end up taking SR-33, as it's a shortcut, so I know that the road is quite barren, and it tends to have a whole slew of slow drivers on it too.
I don't blame you for blowing up at those guys. Cruelty to dogs is just awful.
I hate admitting it, but from one side of my family there's quite a few crackers; I haven't met them more than a handful of times, but they are certainly backwoods, although they at least don't starve animals.
Also, the town I used to live in back in Illinois had many "good old boys"-farmers, but I had no problem with that; in fact I knew quite a few of those people, and they were cool. Pabst Blue Ribbon is the unofficial drink of that town (Belvidere)
Still, the biggest white trash town I've ever been in was Arcadia. It was almost scary being there. I believe that the Lakeland area is almost as bad, if you judge it by the one CWF shitshow I saw in Auburndale at a flea market (true story).
