Events from this weekend

This past weekend I went down to Birmingham. I had the weekend off and there was several things going on in town, so I figured it'd be worth going down - and it was.

Saturday I overslept and didn't leave town until 1:30 (I was suppose to have left town by 7am) so I didn't get into Birmingham until 5 because traffic was really heavy. At one point, I finally was able to proceed at what I consider a normal speed for this particular stretch of road (80 - 85 mph) when I got behind this mom driving a black Passport. After following her for 10 or 15 miles, we entered a construction zone. No big deal, its Saturday, nobody is out working right? Well, sorta. About midway into this construction zone and almost out of Lawrence County, a state trooper passes us on the otherside of the road. We both hit our brakes hard in order to get back down to 55mph (the speed limit). Too late. The trooper hits the shoulder of the road and turns on his blue lights! Crap Crap Crap! I'm going to jail for reckless vehicular endangerment ( > 20 mph over the speed limit). After throwing a quick U-ey, the trooper comes zooming up behind me and much to my relief gets right on my bumper and then puts on his blinker. HES PASSING ME AND GOING FOR THE PASSPORT! Wheew. I was really really worried there for a while. My parents would have murdered me if I had gotten that ticket.... Note to self, I must remember to follow usual protical and always make this trip under the cover of darkness.

Once I got into town, I called Ashley because I was going to meet her and all her FCC friends at her lake house. When I finally got in touch with her she gave me directions and I headed out that way. Little did I know that this place was an hour's drive south, well on the otherside of Chelsea. I didn't arrive until sometime after 6:30 because it was really confusing getting there and I got turned around a couple times. When I did arrive it was too late for me to get out on the water, which was fine with me considering I didn't have my trunks on and I didn't really want to sport "the surf arm" in front of all these people I just met. I ended up hanging around the lakehouse and dock and got to meet 10 or 12 of Ashley's staff from FCC. They were all really nice and from the looks of them, incredible athletes. They were all incredibly ripped out. I've never seen such muscular girls as these. AJ, the strongest of the girls, could have ripped me limb from limb. I would be terrified if I met her in a dark alley somewhere. About 9 o'clock, we all left the lakehouse and headed back to Birmingham to Ashley's house. Most of the girls went on to the hotel after a half hour at Ashley's 'cause they were tired but all of the guys and AJ stayed. We just sorta hung around and watched TV until midnight rolled around, at which point I was ready to head back to Dylan or Carolyn's to sack out.

On my way out, I called Dylan to see if I could stay with him because I figured Caro would already be in bed. Much to my suprise, he was out at Zydeco listening to this country band, Troutline, play. When he told me the cover was only $7 I figured I might as well go and have fun. Boy was I glad I did! The band was incredible - save a version of "Rocky Top" that would boil the blood of any Tennesseean, much less mine. Plus, I ran into Brooke Bamberg there too - that was a very very pleasant surprise! Unfortunately, my visit to Zydeco was spoiled somewhat by the presence of a person that Brian, a friend of mine from Jackson, has affectionately dubbed "ButterTroll". Luckily Dylan was intuitive enough to save my tail several times and warn me appropriately so that I could avoid her. I am VERY grateful for it too. Around 2 the band wrapped up and a little later Dylan, myself, and all the people he had come with, left and headed to Dylan's. Carolyn, who had been just down the street the whole time we were at Zydeco, met us there for a little bit before she headed over to her place to go to bed. I quickly followed after Dylan and "friend" went to bed, leaving Eric watching The Butterfly Effect, which I left in Birmingham.

The next morning Carolyn and I woke up (in separate beds of course) and I fixed breakfast for us. A little later, Jonathan met us over there and I took 'em to church with me at Church of the Highlands. When we arrived I was most surprised to receive a phone call from Ashley informing me that she and all of her friends would not be meeting us in chruch b/c they were afraid that it would be too crowded and that they were going to the later service, which I normally would have gone to if I wasn't planning on meeting them at the earlier service. Oh well. After church, we went back to Caro's 'cause I was waiting on Brittney to call me 'cause we were planning on going to lunch together once she got out of church at 11:30. Around 1pm I gave up on her and the three of us went to Arby's for lunch. After that, Jonathan went back to his apartment and Caro and I just sorta laid around 'cause nobody else that I had planned on meeting, INCLUDING MARK MONTGOMERY, would answer their phone. After chill'n there for the remainder of the afternoon, I headed back to Jackson around 6pm.

Well thats about it.
